    Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. Usage-based pricing is in effect for overages or additional usage not covered in the contract. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.

    Algolia's Startup Program is indeed too good to be true--be aware before signing up

    What do you like best about the product?
    It is a search tool and we haven't experienced any downtime, though hard to say if it's that much better than its competitors. We were attracted by its Startup Program, but that hasn't delivered for us.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    Algolia markets its startup program as $10,000 in Free Search & Discovery Usage, which is super attractive for pre-revenue startups and puts it ahead of its competitors. HOWEVER, what they don't tell you up front is that as soon as you're accepted into the startup program, even if it's months before you launch, the clock starts on that offer, so in practice, you really won't get $10K in value. What the startup program looked like in practice for us--we set up algolia summer 2024 as we were building our product. We launched Jan 2025, 6 months into Algolia's startup program. We've only used ~$300 in credits, yet we will lose the rest of the supposed $10K in credits next month because they only give you 1 year to use the $10K, regardless of when you actually go live. As a small, pre-revenue startup, we're now locked in to paying Algolia's expensive rates until we have the engineering bandwidth to switch, which we definitely will be switching, but I wish we had known up front because we would not have gone with Algolia and invested the time to set it up in the first place. We tried contacting Algolia to explain our situation, and they said they couldn't do anything, so I'm writing this review so more startups can be aware and not make the same mistake we did!

    What do you like best about the product?
    We have improved our site search results and what is being delivered to our customers. Also, their customer support is fantastic and there are a number of features that bring the platform to life.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    The cost limits only certain types of businesses to be able to afford the Algolia services. So it may not be the right solution for everyone.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    With our former search solution, we weren't able to pull in the deep levels of attributes that we now have with Algolia. That has been extremely helpful.

    What do you like best about the product?
    Good UI, fast integration, comprehensive documentation, multiple platforms support. Great search engine in general.
    Nice customer support.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    Quite expensive. Does not supports caching mechanisms. No alert configuration, just 1 common. Limited query logic. especially "A OR (B AND C) OR (D AND E) " is not supported.
    Proper Array of object filtering on multiple fields is not supported. You need to created multiple records with the same asset and unique objects in each record form the array.
    Query suggestion does not help in our case. as its basically the "most popular terms" for today. Some terms can be valid now but not on the next day.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    helps to improve videos with fast, relevant search, reducing user frustration and bounce rates. solves problems like poor search UX, low conversion rates, and difficulty navigating large datasets. Especially in our content platforms. Can also boost engagement by connecting users to what they want instantly.

    Algolia is a robust and extremely efficient search tool. The dedication and availability of senior engineers and product owners is essential and makes Algolia best in class i technology as well as services
    What do you dislike about the product?
    Some of the new products are not as practical as the core search engine.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    Algolia offers fast and efficient search with good control on recall and great accuracy. The rules are a combination of dynamic and flexible options to optimize results. Algolia works well in merchandising too. We use Algolia across dozens of ecommerce sites and Apps, within different categories from Grocery to Furniture, Fashion and Beauty.

    AI-Powered Search with more control than Drupal default site search

    What do you like best about the product?
    We had several sales calls with Algolia to determine it was the right product for our client. Then when we entered into an agreement we had very detailed weekly onboarding sessions to teach us about the tool. The dashboard is very user friendly and there's so many different features. We're excited about the level of control we'll have with this tool compared to the default site search tools through a CMS like Drupal or Wordpress, or ElasticSearch via AWS. This is nice because we can see why a search is ranking a certain way right through the dashboard and will save us time from having to do trial and error to make the site search as relevant as possible.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    There are so many features that it can seem overwhelming to start at first. We are also one of the first clients using this in a non-ecommerce way so there were not as many uses cases we could reference. The tool is expensive but worth it so far.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    Giving the website admins more control over the site search. We can come up with our search results ranking strategy and manage it in the Algolia dashboard. It's way more transparent than the basic site search ranking rules we'd get through Drupal or Wordpress. Then there's the AI powered part that pays attention to what users are searching for and personalizes their website experience from there.
