You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance size you run CData Arc Enterprise on. The seven options map to specific instance types across two families. The t2.medium and t3.medium fit lighter workloads with smaller compute. The m4.large, m5.large, m4.xlarge, m5.xlarge, and m5.2xlarge step up in CPU and memory for heavier processing. Pricing scales with the instance you choose, so larger instances cost more per hour. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each instance type maps to a specific amount of CPU and memory. The t2.medium and t3.medium provide smaller compute for lighter data flows. The m4 and m5 options offer more CPU and memory for heavier file transfer, EDI, and integration processing. You pick the size that fits your workload volume.
You are billed by the hour only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS resources such as storage may still incur separate AWS fees while the instance is stopped. The software meters running time only.
You choose one instance type at launch and pay its hourly rate while it runs. To use a different size, you stop the current instance and start the size you need. Billing follows whichever instance is running, so your hourly rate changes with the instance you select.

Usage instructions
- In your web browser, type https://<this_instance_ip_address> . If the connection fails then you should either try again in a few minutes, or double check the Security Group (EC2 Dashboard > Network & Security > Security Groups) assigned to this image, ensuring that HTTPS is added and that your IP address is allowed.
- If you get a security warning in your browser, select the option to proceed. The browser is simply alerting you to the fact that the SSL certificate used by the site is self-signed (not signed by a Certificate Authority), and thus untrusted.
- To login, use "admin" for the username, and the instance id for the password, prefixed with "Arc26:".
- Once logged in, specify a license in the Settings page, and you will be able to transfer files from/to CData Arc, using the intuitive controls provided.
