This Red Hat 9 virtual machine image is fully preconfigured with Foundation Security's Level 1 hardening framework and deploys in minutes. Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for a hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 image, billed through your AWS usage. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate follows the instance you launch. Smaller instances like t3.nano or t2.micro carry lower hourly rates, while large and metal instances such as u7in-32tb.224xlarge or p5.48xlarge carry higher rates. Every instance runs the same hardened operating system built with STIG and NIST frameworks. You choose the instance that fits your compute, memory, storage, or GPU needs, and the software rate scales with it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay for one hour of the hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 software running on one EC2 instance of the chosen type. The rate is the software charge only. The underlying EC2 compute, storage, and data transfer bill separately through AWS at their own rates.
The hourly software charge meters running time. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the software rate. Note that AWS may still charge for attached storage on a stopped instance, but the Foundation software license bills only while the instance runs.
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, storage, or GPU carry higher hourly software rates. Smaller instances carry lower rates. The software is identical across all types; only the instance size changes your rate.

Usage instructions
Quick Start
Launch your Red Hat 9 instance and connect using SSH on port 22. The default username is ec2-user.
Example: ssh -i /path/to/your-key.pem ec2-user@<public-ip-address>

If you connect over SSH, configure your security group to allow access only from your trusted IP address.
This image has been fully hardened with Foundation Level 1 security controls applied and validated before release. No additional hardening steps are required after launch.
Once connected, you can immediately begin installing and running your applications on a secure, hardened baseline.
