Windows Server 2019 AMI | 24/7 Support by cloudimg
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for a Windows Server 2019 machine image, billed per running instance. Pricing scales with the EC2 instance type you select, so the software rate matches the compute size you run. Smaller general-purpose types like t3.large cost less per hour, while large memory, storage, GPU, and bare-metal types cost more. You choose the type that fits your workload, from micro sizes to metal servers. Each rate is a software charge that adds to standard AWS infrastructure costs. All types include the same 24/7 support with a 24-hour response commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my Windows Server instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for the attached EBS volumes while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
What does the hourly rate cover beyond the operating system itself?
Each hourly rate covers the Windows Server 2019 image with security patches applied at build time. It also includes preinstalled AWS CLI v2, the CloudWatch Agent, and the Systems Manager Agent. You also get 24/7 cloudimg support with a 24-hour response commitment. Underlying AWS compute and storage bill separately.
If I switch to a larger instance type, how does my software charge change?
The software rate is tied to the EC2 instance type you run. Moving to a larger type changes your hourly rate to that type's listed rate. The change is not automatic; you select the new type when you launch or resize. You pay the new rate only while that type runs.
