The Okta Workforce Identity dimension covers 150 internal users, giving your employees or staff access to the workforce identity product suite. The Okta Customer Identity dimension covers 20,000 external users, supporting the customer identity product suite for people outside your organization. These are independent options based on who you need to manage. Pricing scales with the number of users and the identity suite you select. You buy this listing through a private offer.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one user for the Okta Workforce Identity dimension?
A workforce user is one internal account, such as an employee, contractor, or staff member who signs in to your systems. The dimension covers 150 such accounts. Each person you manage counts as one user against that count.
How do the Workforce Identity and Customer Identity dimensions combine on my bill?
The two dimensions bill independently. Workforce Identity covers 150 internal users; Customer Identity covers 20,000 external users. You are charged for each suite separately based on who you manage. Internal staff and external customers are counted on their own dimension, not merged into one total.
What is the difference between the workforce and customer identity product suites?
The workforce suite manages internal users, such as employees and contractors, with sign-on and access controls for your own systems. The customer suite manages external users outside your organization, supporting identity for people who access your public-facing applications.

Centralized access has improved secure workforce identity and simplified global cloud logins

Review from a verified AWS customer
What is our primary use case?
Okta Platform's main use case for our organization is workforce identity. We use Okta Platform as a workforce identity solution in order to secure the identity and access to all the cloud applications we have. We are also distributors of Okta Platform, so I have visibility from both a partner perspective as a distributor and as a customer.
We have several cloud applications and we need Okta Platform Workforce Identity to access with multifactor authentication and single sign-on. Because we are a multinational company, all employees can access their applications from everywhere using Okta Platform to access in a secure way. This is the main scenario regarding our workflow and our company.
We don't use those features at the moment, so I don't have that view currently. From the feedback I'm receiving from customers, Okta Platform is working well to improve the features, and maybe in the future, I could have a better view on that.
What is most valuable?
The best features Okta Platform offers include a well-done single sign-on that is easy to configure and use. The big improvement and the big quality of the product is the multifactor authentication that is complete and full of customizations. The delivery and deployment is really easy to do, and you can integrate Okta Platform with several applications, making it really easy to configure and integrate. You can set specific customizations for your specific needs. For example, we work around different countries, and we can put a specific double check for the identity when employees are working from and connecting from other countries than the specific countries where they typically work. This is really useful for our use case.
We are a multinational company, and employees used to travel around different countries and need specific features and specific settings. This is the main important aspect for us in order to use in the best way the different platforms and the different software that we have in our company. Okta Platform's multifactor authentication is really easy to use, really fast, and you don't need extra tools or software, just an internet connection. When you log in to your application, you will have Okta Platform's interface that is really friendly and easy to use. Additionally, Okta Platform has a strong integration with CrowdStrike, the EDR solution that our main customers use, and this integration is really easy to use and valuable for sharing data about identity to CrowdStrike's EDR.
What needs improvement?
I don't have specific suggestions, but for sure, Okta Platform could improve with maybe some language tools. The translation in different languages could help employees around different countries, and these important aspects could be improved for sure. This is the only suggestion that I have.
Another improvement maybe is not regarding the platform itself but more about the services. Okta Platform, especially in Europe where we are based, could improve the level of service. In some situations, I think it's not at the same level of the quality of the platform.
To receive a perfect score, Okta Platform should improve some support service level and maybe add some languages to the translation. These are some points where they can improve.
For how long have I used the solution?
I started to work at Westcon in my role in March of 2021, so it's more than five years that I have this role and visibility about Okta Platform and the cybersecurity market.
What other advice do I have?
We work as a distributor and all our partners and customers use Okta Platform, so that's really useful because we can integrate easily to all the applications of our partners and customers, but also with the cybersecurity ecosystem of solutions like CrowdStrike and Zscaler that we use in our company.
The best thing that I'd like to share is the integration between Okta Platform and CrowdStrike, but also with other software that are standards. For example, we are Microsoft customers, but we don't use the identity of Microsoft; we prefer to use Okta Platform that has several integrations and an easy interface to configure all those aspects.
The positive thing is that Okta Platform is a software-as-a-service with a subscription model, making it really easy to use. If you need to add some employees, it's really easy to add in the interface. We have customers that use Okta Platform, and what they say about Okta Platform is that it's a standard of security, allowing them to integrate the solution to their applications. For example, if they are a software house or something similar, the integration with their own solutions is the best feature and the best aspect of Okta Platform compared to other competitors.
For sure, the security improved after implementing Okta Platform. Also, the timing for the delivery, as mentioned, was really easy, and today we can save a lot of time to log in and manage the identity to our standard cloud applications that we use. The improvement of the security is one of the most important aspects for us as a cybersecurity distribution company.
Another improvement is not regarding the platform itself but more about the services. Okta Platform, especially in Europe where we are based, could improve the level of service. In some situations, I think it's not at the same level of the quality of the platform.
At the moment we are not using those features of Okta Platform, but some customers of ours are using them, and I can say that overall, at a high level, Okta Platform is investing really well because they want to be a player that can support. To be honest, we are not using that at the moment.
Okta Platform is deployed in a public cloud in our organization, which is really important for us. Okta Platform is definitely helping us to improve the identity and access to the public cloud providers because we also use Microsoft Azure and AWS to provide services to our partners and customers. Setting Okta Platform and using Okta Platform as our identity platform solution is really important for us. I would rate this review an 8 out of 10.

Unified access has strengthened identity security and simplified secure logins for critical tools
Reviewed on Aug 16, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Okta Platform involves authenticating my identity as a user across many software platforms. The IT department at Melio built a solution wrapping logins for numerous applications, ensuring secure access to applications like Figma and AWS, which were all authenticated using Okta. Users could only manage access to applications like GitHub after installing Okta and successfully authenticating as Melio users, preventing unauthorized actions by other developers.
What is most valuable?
The best features Okta Platform offers include API authentication and authorization, along with a user-friendly interface that enables seamless logins for users, including access to sensitive applications like GitHub.
I believe that Okta Platform is a mature, highly secure solution with high performance, capable of ongoing growth and a promising economic future.
The positive impact of Okta Platform on my organization is evident, as it strengthened security and streamlined identity management for various teams, including IT, dev, and testing teams, making login and authorization processes much easier and secure.
The reduction of security incidents was significant, with the GRC team monitoring Melio's operations becoming increasingly effective, allowing everyone in the organization, including UI/UX, product, and dev teams, to feel more secure and have significantly improved privacy.
What needs improvement?
To improve Okta Platform, I suggest simplifying web manuals to be more understandable for non-technical users, making it easier for them to navigate both the API and user interface levels.
A common issue with many software products is the need for better error messages; having clear descriptions can greatly assist IT, developers, and testers in debugging when users misuse the application.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Okta Platform for about two and a half years, with one and a half years at Melio, a FinTech company in Tel Aviv purchased by Xero.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Okta Platform is stable, with no bugs or lags noticed during my thorough testing of the API and seamless username login using Google SSO.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I am not the best person to evaluate Okta Platform's scalability, but it seems extensive.
What was our ROI?
The return on investment with Okta Platform is evident through a decrease in the time spent logging in or reconstructing usernames and passwords, relieving the support teams from managing identity-related issues.
What other advice do I have?
Okta Platform made the login process seamless for me by providing security measures for critical applications like GitHub, a major tool for developers. It prevented unauthorized access, ensuring production code remained secure, especially when employees transitioning from their roles could pose risks to the codebase.
Between 2020 and the beginning of 2022, I thoroughly tested a Java API above Okta Platform API and observed how Okta Platform secures logins and roles efficiently. I found it effective in managing user roles, allowing for efficient upgrades from regular to admin roles, demonstrating that Okta Platform is a highly secured tool for authentication and authorization with good performance.
Mainly at Melio, I experienced quick and secure logins to GitHub and other accounts, which I wanted to protect from unauthorized changes. Okta Platform allowed for this level of security, ensuring that only authorized individuals could access and modify sensitive information.
Okta Platform does not protect non-human identities beyond that, as we are not an IoT organization and primarily operate services that transfer money from our system to banks or credit card companies, lacking security for routers or IoT devices.
I have not personally noticed measurable security or operational improvements since implementing Okta Platform, as I mainly interact with it as a user rather than as a DevOps or IT professional.
My advice for others considering Okta Platform is to design your security, authentication, and authorization roles thoughtfully, akin to IAM and Identity Access Management on AWS.
I do not have any additional thoughts on Okta Platform except for one inquiry regarding its performance on secured cloud platforms, particularly under Israeli cloud security solutions and how well it manages heavy loads. I give this product a rating of 8 out of 10.

Single sign-on has strengthened our access control and now secures thousands of user logins

What is our primary use case?
We had a client based out of the UK who was a broadcasting company. Okta Platform was used for single sign-on. We had our Google Workspace with approximately 10,000 plus users and we managed the Okta Platform admin side, the SAML configuration and related tasks. Basically, it was SSO and assigning apps to users so that they could seamlessly log into the apps through their Google Workspace account via Okta Platform.
The client I was working with was in the entertainment industry and is a leading provider of broadcast services. They host many TV shows across the UK and across the globe. They have their own application and website running. We were able to sync Okta Platform with their Google Workspace.
What is most valuable?
From my perspective and experience, I was involved with the identity part of Okta Platform admin side. I was able to configure users and effectively sync the essential things in Google Workspace, which are organizational units, groups, and other elements. That was a sync that we used to work with. Okta Platform was our primary identity provider solution and we used to sync it with Google Workspace.
I also have previous working experience with Microsoft Entra ID, but I did not find it as effective as Okta Platform. Entra ID has lots of sync issues in their Active Directory and it is a nightmare for someone who is new to identity and access management. Okta Platform is user-friendly. I never faced any issues using Okta Platform. My experience has been good overall.
The benefits that I see are the user-friendliness and the ease of configuring it on the admin side. Additionally, there is a feature to track the logs of user activity, including when the user has logged in and what activity they have performed. It syncs in real-time, which is something that I really appreciated.
What needs improvement?
I cannot think of any such feature right now. Most of the features were pretty basic. In my limited experience, things have been great. I cannot really think of anything that can be enhanced. If they can focus on keeping it up all the time and focus on reducing the vulnerabilities that may exist, that would be great, but nothing that I can think of right now.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have worked for about two years with Okta Platform. The last time I worked with it was in my previous organization. I joined a new organization two months ago. I stopped working with it two months ago, but I have two years of overall experience working with Okta Platform.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We had a user base of approximately 10,000 plus users. It was once in a blue moon that someone would report that they were not able to log in or were getting 404 errors. It has always been seamless, but there is always some uncertainty about when an app can get buggy. There were some outages, but I think they were fixed really quickly, so it was not a big deal for us.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We had a user base of approximately 10,000 plus users. It was once in a blue moon that someone would report that they were not able to log in or were getting 404 errors. Okta Platform handled the scalability well for our organization.
How are customer service and support?
We never interacted with Okta Platform customer service because everything worked fine. The sales team may have been involved, but from the solution side, we never reached out to them. We used to reach out to Google Workspace mostly. I am not very sure about their support capabilities.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have worked with Microsoft Entra ID as well. The first thing that you notice is the user interface. Okta Platform is a lot simpler, whereas Entra is a nightmare. Everyone in the industry agrees about this most of the time. Another thing is the overall ecosystem of Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and LDAP. Configuring that is a nightmare because many things are outdated in today's systems and they do not sync well with the cloud. Okta Platform seamlessly integrates with everything. We can integrate it in our CI/CD pipelines, we can integrate it with Google Workspace, and it is very seamless. Configuring Okta Platform has been really easy for us, so we always preferred it.
How was the initial setup?
When I stepped into the project, it was already set up. From what I know, it was straightforward and integrating it with Workspace was not a big issue.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I do not have details about setup costs because it was directly purchased by the client. We were on the solution side, not on the sales side.
What other advice do I have?
We did not use Okta Platform for GenAI purposes, so I cannot comment on that.
We did not use it for containerized workloads for authenticating those workloads. It was a basic configuration for SSO into our Google Workspace accounts. We did not use Okta Platform for that. We had a different workflow for that. Basically, we used WIF for containerization purposes and we had a sync with GitHub as a workload identity pool. That was a different setup, but we did not use Okta Platform for authenticating the pipelines and containers.
We also had service accounts in our Google Workspace. Everything was synced. Service accounts have a different identity compared to user accounts. It was not very different. We used the same protocols of SSO.
Previously, before I joined the project, there were a lot of issues authenticating via the traditional Google methods. We had to integrate a lot of in-house apps and external third-party apps. That posed a security risk because if we provided access to all the Google access scopes directly to those apps, it would be a nightmare. We configured them via Okta Platform through our SSO, so that only the authorized personnel were able to log into those applications and not everyone could have access. I saw a lot of improvement in the overall security posture.
I do not have any recommendations. My experience has been fair. Okta Platform should focus on remediating the vulnerabilities in the ever-evolving AI landscape because the IDP is critical. If someone has access to the IDP, they can get access to the whole system. They should keep evolving. The review rating I have given for this product is 9.

Secure user access has simplified large-scale authentication for millions of banking customers
Reviewed on Jul 15, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Okta Platform is for authenticating users, specifically in user authentication.
I use Okta Platform for authenticating users in web applications. I have used it for Naranja X, which is a mobile bank in Argentina that has about 11 million users on our platform, and we are using Okta Platform to authenticate users. Recently, I have also used it for Ernst & Young to authenticate employees to access the internal platform.
I do not have anything unique to add about my main use case with Okta Platform; I have a lot of users to connect to a platform. Normally, it is a simple use case involving authenticating users and two-phase authentication.
What is most valuable?
The best features Okta Platform offers include an API that is very easy to use for creating new customers, setting up, and customizing for our use cases. I do not see any unique features, but the basic features are well-done.
The API makes my work easier because it is very simple to use for our web and mobile applications to connect them. Our applications are built using Next.js with a back-end in Node.js or Python, and it was very simple to integrate. I have used Cognito and Auth0 before and do not see any big difference, but Okta Platform does the basic things well.
Okta Platform has impacted my organization positively by providing much better security, as it implements the best patterns for security. I do not need to worry about implementing authentication myself, which is very simple and much more efficient as a solution since I just call the API and everything is done. I do not need to have code replication across several services. The user experience for administration is very easy, making it simple to manage the platform, create a client, add or remove customers, and understand the logs of what is happening inside authentication. For end-users, it works and offers a very simple, comprehensive solution for authentication.
What needs improvement?
I would like to see Okta Platform become simpler for users, as I think that is the most important thing. I am an experienced engineer with 35 years of experience, but it could become simpler for new engineers who are just starting and building applications using LLMs. An IM supervisor integration with Cloud Code could improve integration with agent functions.
I cannot think of any improvements needed for Okta Platform at the moment; I think what it has is very great.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in my current field for about 35 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
In my experience, Okta Platform is stable; I have had no downtime with the platform in our use case.
I have not conducted any specific evaluation for performance or availability with Okta Platform, but the performance is good, and everything is fast. You do not need to think about performance with Okta Platform; it just works.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Okta Platform's scalability seems good; I have 11 million users on the platform, with about 500,000 online at the same time, and everything works well without any issues regarding scalability.
How are customer service and support?
I have not needed to contact customer support for Okta Platform because everything works for me. When there are issues, it has been another team handling the situation, and as far as I know, everything works fine without issues.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before using Okta Platform, we previously utilized Auth0, and we switched from Auth0 to Okta Platform due to pricing reasons.
Before choosing Okta Platform, I evaluated other options including Auth0, Cognito, and Google Cloud IAM, as well as considering creating our own internal platform for authentication. After assessing the best options, I selected Auth0 and Okta Platform, and eventually switched to Okta Platform after their commercial team proposed a better price for our company.
What was our ROI?
I do not have metrics on the return on investment from Okta Platform, but I know that it works because everyone is happy with the solution implemented, even though I do not focus on the numbers for my organization.
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Okta Platform's AI capabilities, you have an expectation of 100 percent accuracy and reliability. I think that is relatively easy if you have an IMCP for Okta Platform that guarantees everything is working. It is another aspect that should not require thought; it should just work seamlessly for authentication implementations.
Okta Platform helps secure access to APIs, containers, and Kubernetes in our architecture. However, I do not have any AI services in our production environment yet.
My advice for others looking into using Okta Platform is that it is a great solution that works well, but they should pay attention to the cost. With a lot of users on the platform, it could get expensive, so they should do the math to see if it works for their specific use case. Overall, for features, I think Okta Platform is satisfactory and usable without problems. I would rate this review a 9 out of 10.

Identity workflows have automated joiner‑mover‑leaver processes and streamline access provisioning
Reviewed on Jun 25, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Okta Platform is managing the workforce identity in Identity Engine, which helps the organization maintain the workforce identity in a seamless manner for provisioning and deprovisioning.
For workforce identity management with Okta Platform, I mostly use it for the joiner, mover, and leaver process, and whenever it comes to the application, I am integrating SCIM provisioning to make the users aligned with the applications on the fly.
Regarding my main use case for Okta Platform, for access governance, I maintain all those certifications as well, and for non-human identities, I also manage them in Okta Platform itself.
What is most valuable?
The best features Okta Platform offers are workforce identity management, access provisioning, and single sign-on.
Okta Platform's single sign-on and access provisioning features have helped my organization by being quite seamless. The user gets onboarded on the fly with Just-In-Time provisioning enabled, which helps propagate the users across the organizational applications.
The behavioral detection and threat detection features of Okta Platform are very good. They provide insights into the behavioral pattern of user access management and inform the administrator of any kind of intruder detections or threat analysis, making it very useful to use Okta Platform for maintaining identities.
Okta Platform has positively impacted my organization by bringing more automations with Okta Workflows, resulting in a drastic change in the manual efforts, as most things are being automated and Okta Platform is very convenient with their workflow management.
The impact on manual efforts with Okta Platform means that for some activities in my day-to-day business that used to take around an hour or two, it is now reduced to seconds, and I am getting things done much faster.
What needs improvement?
In terms of improvement, Okta Platform can focus more on governance and posture management.
The needed improvements mostly pertain to the ISPM, especially in posture management.
This means that whenever there are changes or a change audit occurs, Okta Platform should provide details on what exactly is happening, who is making the change, what values are changed from past to the current one, providing more insight into the change audit process.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working for around nine years in the current field of IAM domain.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Okta Platform is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Okta Platform is quite flexible.
I find Okta Platform scalable, as it can easily handle more users or workloads as my organization grows.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support from Okta Platform is quite fast.
I would rate the customer support a nine out of ten.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used NetIQ, which has a good engine, but the operational and maintenance costs are quite high, which is why I switched.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment with fewer employees needed due to workload or user base considerations, making it very cost-effective.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Okta Platform is very convenient. I have a good partnership with Okta Platform for negotiating pricing, and while this will not be disclosed, it is flexible enough.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Okta Platform, I evaluated other options such as SailPoint and Saviyant, but I found Okta Platform to be more convenient, leading me to choose it.
What other advice do I have?
My advice for others looking into using Okta Platform is that if users are more cloud-focused, Okta Platform is very convenient for integration. It is important to consider the infrastructure and applications used within the organization to ensure compatibility with Okta Platform, especially with legacy applications. I would rate this product an overall eight out of ten.
