This product includes charges for the pre-configured compliance and security setup, along with ongoing image maintenance. HIPAA-compliant Rocky Linux 10 is designed to help organizations meet the rigorous privacy and security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), safeguarding protected health information (PHI) in the cloud.
This Rocky Linux 10 virtual machine image is fully preconfigured to meet HIPAA compliance requirements and deploys in minutes. It eliminates the weeks of manual hardening and configuration typically required with a baseline operating system and delivers hundreds of tested security controls out of the box, providing a proven secure foundation for workloads handling protected health information (PHI).
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HIPAA sets national standards for the protection of sensitive patient data. HIPAA compliance ensures that systems handling PHI implement the necessary administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of health information. This is critical for healthcare providers, insurers, and any organization that stores, processes, or transmits PHI. Meeting HIPAA requirements on a baseline operating system can take significant time and specialized expertise.
This preconfigured Rocky Linux 10 image accelerates compliance by delivering a secure, HIPAA-aligned environment from the moment it launches. It reduces risk from misconfiguration, saves engineering resources, and provides a tested, compliant foundation from day one.
Foundation Security images are updated regularly to keep pace with evolving security threats and compliance requirements, ensuring workloads remain protected over time. This offering is ideal for healthcare organizations, life sciences companies, and any business that must safeguard sensitive health data while meeting audit and regulatory requirements.
Foundation Security has a team of industry experts with deep knowledge of HIPAA, NIST, and other compliance frameworks, ensuring every image is built and maintained to the highest security standards. Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.

You pay by the hour for a hardened, HIPAA-compliant Rocky Linux 10 image that runs on ARM-based instances. Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type, so pricing scales with the compute size you choose. Options span general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, high-performance-computing, and graphics-accelerated families. Sizes range from small shared instances up to bare-metal configurations. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates because they provide more CPU, memory, or storage. You select the instance type that fits your workload and pay only for the hours you run it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for these instance types?
Each dimension bills one running instance of the chosen EC2 instance type, per hour. The rate covers the hardened, HIPAA-compliant Rocky Linux 10 software license on ARM-based hardware. You pay separately for the underlying AWS compute. Larger instance types provide more CPU, memory, or storage and carry higher hourly rates.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software license meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software charges. You may still owe underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
What support is included when I run one of these instances?
Foundation Security provides on-demand support through email, phone, and chat, aiming to respond within 24 hours. An additional intense support service offers faster response times and higher priority for customers who need it. Contact support@foundationvm.com for standard or additional support requests.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
