You pay by the hour for this Ubuntu 24 image, which includes a security agent. Billing runs on usage, so charges apply only while an instance runs. Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type, such as general purpose, compute, memory, storage, or accelerated families. The software rate stays tied to the instance you pick. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones. You choose the instance size that fits your workload, and hourly cost scales with that choice. AWS infrastructure charges apply separately from this software rate.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What resource do I get for the hourly rate on a given instance type?
Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type running the Ubuntu 24 image with the security agent installed. The instance type sets the CPU, memory, and any specialized hardware you receive. You launch the size that fits your workload, and the software rate follows that instance choice.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS charges, such as storage for the instance, may still apply separately while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you restart the instance.
If I switch to a different instance size, how does my cost change?
The software rate is tied to the instance type you run. Move to an instance with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware and the hourly rate rises to match that type. Move to a smaller instance and the rate drops. The change applies as soon as you run the new instance.
