Power higher querying capabilities and hot-standbys for high-availability with Read Replicas for Timestream for InfluxDB instance. NOTE: This is an add-on only for Timestream for InfluxDB and does not provide functionality on its own. You must purchase Timestream for InfluxDB to utilize this add-on.
Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB Read Replicas is an add-on designed to enhance availability, query performance, and reliability for time series workloads. By creating read replicas, users gain distributed query scaling, hot standby failover, and cost-effective high availability, all for ensuring uninterrupted monitoring, analytics, and IoT data processing.
This add-on offloads query workloads to read replica instances, improving query throughput and performance consistency while reducing strain on the primary database. In the event of primary instance issues, it enables fast failover, keeping critical data accessible with minimal downtime.
Built on InfluxDB 2.7 OSS, this solution is ideal for users seeking high query performance and operational resilience. Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB Read Replicas delivers enterprise-grade performance with the benefits of a managed solution backed by AWS and InfluxData. Whether for IT infrastructure monitoring, industrial sensor data processing, or real-time analytics, this add-on ensures seamless scaling, resilience, and efficiency.
Highlights
Scalable Query Performance: Offload and distribute query workloads to read replicas, improving performance consistency and reducing strain on the primary instance.
High Availability & Fast Failover: Minimize downtime with hot standby failover, ensuring critical time series data remains accessible even if the primary instance encounters issues.
Enterprise-Grade Reliability, Managed for You: Built on InfluxDB 2.7 OSS and backed by AWS and InfluxData, this add-on delivers seamless scaling, resiliency, and operational efficiency without the complexity of managing a multi-node cluster.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
This add-on bills you per vCPU of read replica capacity, charged by host hour (HostHrs). You pay only for what you run, with no upfront commitment. The dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. Instead, each dimension sets the rate for one AWS Region. The Region you deploy in determines your per-vCPU price, and rates vary across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, South America, the Middle East, and Mexico. Your total cost scales with the number of vCPUs and the hours they run. Billing flows directly through your AWS account.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one vCPU for billing on a read replica?
You pay per vCPU of read replica compute, metered by host hour (HostHrs). Each vCPU your replica runs counts toward the hourly charge. Your bill scales with the number of vCPUs multiplied by the hours they run. A larger replica with more vCPUs accrues more per hour.
Am I charged when a read replica is stopped or idle?
Charges accrue per vCPU per host hour while the replica runs. A fully stopped replica does not run vCPUs, so no software host-hour charge applies. Underlying AWS storage or infrastructure fees may still apply separately, but this add-on meters running compute time only.
Why does the per-vCPU rate differ depending on the AWS Region I choose?
Each dimension sets the per-vCPU host-hour rate for one AWS Region. The Region where you deploy the read replica determines which rate applies. Rates vary across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, South America, the Middle East, and Mexico. Deploying in a different Region changes your per-vCPU cost.
