Pulse Secure® Virtual Traffic Manager with Web Application Firewall is a high-performance Load Balancer & application delivery controller designed to deliver fast, secure & more reliable access to web sites & applications & offers 'High Availability' via active-active deployment. Highly portable, it can be deployed across all major clouds and hybrid environments. It controls & optimizes end-user services by inspecting, transforming, prioritizing & routing application traffic, with full payload inspection & streaming. It applies a range of optimization techniques to ensure that incoming requests are presented in the most appropriate manner to the web & application servers. Responses from the application can be compressed, cached & returned to the client at optimum speed while freeing up resources on the server. The Pulse vWAF surrounds your applications with a strong security perimeter that establishes a secure session identifier, proactively encrypts cookies & URLs & applies site usage enforcement. Signatures & ID tools block SQL injection & cross-site scripting by securing common vulnerabilities. Receive real-time alerts & reports on attack trends, application behavior & more for full audit tracking & logging. You can test ruleset suggestions in shadow mode prior to enforcing behavior & improve performance by creating white and black lists. The Pulse vWAF helps meet PCI-DSS 6.6 requirements. Note: Only the 18.3 version (or later) can be deployed on the nitro instance types.
Highlights
Security: Defend against common application vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, etc. Proactively secure applications with a strong security perimeter that creates a secure session ID and applies site usage enforcement.
Speed and Reliability: Accelerate services, increase capacity, and reduce costs by offloading performance-draining tasks such as SSL and compression and improve application availability by intelligently distributing traffic.
Ease of management: Virtual Traffic Manager makes it easy to manage how users interact with applications and the infrastructure those applications depend on.

Try this product free for 30 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance. Every dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, from smaller sizes like c4.large and r5.large up to larger sizes like x1e.32xlarge and c5.18xlarge. There are no tiers or add-ons to choose separately. Instead, your hourly rate depends on which instance type you deploy. Larger instances carry more compute, memory, or network capacity, so their hourly rates scale accordingly. This edition includes Virtual Traffic Manager Standard with Web Application Firewall rated at 1 Gbps throughput.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and when do charges apply?
You pay per hour that the software runs on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance. Charges accrue only while the instance is running. Fully stopped or terminated instances stop the software meter. You may still owe separate AWS fees for storage or other resources tied to a stopped instance.
How do I choose the right instance type, and can I change it later?
Each dimension maps to one Amazon EC2 instance type. Larger instances add compute, memory, or network capacity and carry a higher hourly rate. Pick the size that fits your traffic load. You can stop the current instance and relaunch on a different type; billing then follows the new instance's rate.
What functionality is fixed in this edition regardless of the instance I pick?
This edition includes Virtual Traffic Manager Standard with Web Application Firewall rated at 1 Gbps throughput. That throughput rating and feature set stay the same across every instance type. The instance choice affects only the underlying compute capacity and your hourly rate, not the licensed feature level.
