Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the VxWorks real-time operating system, priced according to the AWS Graviton instance size you run it on. The five dimensions map to t4g instance types: small, medium, large, xlarge, and 2xlarge. Each step reflects more compute capacity, so hourly cost rises with the instance size you choose. There are no tiers or feature bundles to select. You simply pick the instance that fits your workload and pay software charges for the hours it runs, alongside your standard AWS compute charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You are billed for each hour the VxWorks software runs on the chosen t4g instance. The rate matches the instance size, from t4g.small through t4g.2xlarge. Larger instances give more compute capacity and carry a higher hourly software rate. Counting is based on running time.
The software charge meters running hours only. When you stop the instance, the VxWorks hourly software fee stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur standard AWS charges, such as storage for attached volumes, but those are separate from the software fee shown in the pricing table.
You pay two separate charges on the same bill. One is the VxWorks hourly software fee tied to the t4g instance size. The other is your standard AWS charge for running that Graviton instance. Both accrue per running hour and add together for each instance you operate.

What do you like best about the product?
The lightweight Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system allows user to create industrial automation applications. It supports many devices and hence is deployed by many companies for their developments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Higher bug rate than can cause severe risk. Support requests made can take time as long as it can for the feedback. A cross development platform to be implemented in order to run the Wind River VxWorks, since it’s a self-hosting application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our IoT and ML engineers use Wind River VxWorks to solve their Embedded system problems and complex day-to-day problems. Optimal storage allocation and higher efficiency have helped us to enhance business productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It can solve almost all the requirements but lacks in bug fixing and post implementation support.

The overall IDE is perfect for application development, and it has multiple varieties of project development options which will help you to build projects as per your need.
The RTOS gives you a perfect hard real time embedded system which will support you to create industrial automation applications like motor control, process control etc.

The pricing structure is a bit costly, and there are not many open-source materials available for learning. Also, the support team is not so helpful.

We are creating hard real-time embedded systems for industrial automation purposes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The RTOS is perfect, and you can have complete faith in it for your hard real time requirements. It provides far better performance than any other open-source RTOSs that are available.

What do you like best about the product?
The IDE is very mature and the features in the code editor are very good. There are multiple options to build your project and the support pages are very supportive.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is costly and live debugging options for embedded targets are limited.

it is available on many devices and many companies use this OS for their developments

Training services and support is not as good as I expected. We found many issues with the IDE (crashes and unknown errors)

Main OS of the embedded computer. The RTOS brings a lot of benefits to embedded systems in terms of safety and robustness

Take the training if your company is able to pay for it. The training services are not really good, but the material provided is.
