The Whisky Sell-Through & Liquidity Index (WSTI) measures how liquid the collectible whisky market is, the sell-through rate and how hammer prices land against estimates, rather than price level alone. Liquidity is central to whisky as an illiquid alternative asset, and it is what price-only benchmarks ignore.
The index is built on ALT/FNDATA's whisky sales data (over 39,000 sold and 7,900 unsold lots across 220+ auction houses since 1998, with 35,000+ lots carrying both a hammer price and pre-sale estimates), letting it compute sell-through and hammer-to-estimate ratios by distillery, region and age. Values come in JSON, CSV and SQL formats and update daily.
