Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this software, and the rate depends on which EC2 instance type you run it on. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size, from small shared instances up to large bare-metal and specialized compute, memory, storage, and GPU instances. Smaller instances carry lower hourly rates; larger instances with more compute or memory cost more per hour. You pick the instance that matches your workload needs. There is no upfront commitment. Billing scales with the number of hours each instance runs and the instance types you choose.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the software license for NGINX Plus with NGINX App Protect running on that instance. It includes the load balancer, reverse proxy, web server, content cache, API gateway, and layer 7 attack protection. Your AWS compute, storage, and network charges are billed separately.
Software charges accrue only while an instance runs. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue software fees. You may still owe underlying AWS storage charges for the attached volumes. The software license meters running hours only.
Each running instance bills independently at the hourly rate set for its instance type. Your total is the sum of every instance's hours multiplied by its rate. Larger instance types carry higher hourly rates, so instance size and run time together drive your bill.

Usage instructions
When a new AMI is deployed for the first time, the latest version of NGINX Plus will be installed, auto-configured and started. NGINX Plus status can then be checked by running: service nginx status, and the NGINX Plus default index page will be accessible on public EC2 instance address. Please use SSH to access your instance for management purposes with the following usernames, for Ubuntu: "ubuntu", CentOS: "centos", Amazon Linux/RHEL: "ec2-user", Debian: "admin". NGINX Plus configuration can be found in /etc/nginx and the documentation is available at https://docs.nginx.com/nginx/ .
