Try this product free for 7 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.

See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software running on an Amazon EC2 instance. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term. Your cost depends on which EC2 instance type you launch. The dimensions map to standard AWS instance families and sizes: general-purpose (m and t families), compute-optimized (c families), memory-optimized (r family), and storage-optimized (i family). Within each family, sizes range from nano and micro up to xlarge and 2xlarge. Larger sizes carry more CPU and memory, so their hourly rate rises. You choose the size that fits your workload and scale by switching instance types.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my EC2 instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the software licence charges only apply while the instance runs.
What does one hourly unit actually cover for a given instance type?
Each unit is one hour that a single EC2 instance of the chosen type runs. The preconfigured appliance bundles the operating system, database, web server, mail transfer agent, and administration tools. You pay per running instance-hour, so two running instances bill two separate hourly units.
What happens to my cost if I switch to a different instance size?
You are billed at the hourly rate of whichever instance type is running. Switching to a larger size raises your rate; switching to a smaller size lowers it. There is no upfront commitment, so you can change instance types to match your workload as needs change.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
