You pay for this cloud IoT service based on usage, with two separate meters that bill monthly. The first meter charges per connected thing or device sending requests to the deviceWISE Cloud. Your cost here grows as you add more devices. The second meter charges per gigabyte of data storage you use. These two dimensions are independent add-ons, not tiers. Your total each month combines both: how many devices you connect and how much data you store. This pay-as-you-go structure lets each meter scale on its own as your deployment expands.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one connected thing or device for the request-based meter?
A connected thing is any device or machine sending requests to the deviceWISE Cloud. This includes PLCs, CNCs, robots, sensors, and gateways connected through drivers. Each connected device counts toward the meter, so your monthly cost rises as you onboard more devices to the platform.
Which meter drives more of my monthly bill — devices or storage?
Both meters bill at the same time on one invoice. The device meter dominates when you connect many machines sending frequent requests. The storage meter dominates when you retain large volumes of sensor data over time. Deployments with few devices but heavy data warehousing lean toward storage costs.
Can I reduce the storage meter by limiting what data devices send?
Yes. You can configure devices to send only data triggered by specific events, conditions, or trends. This reduces the volume stored and lowers your per-gigabyte charge. The storage meter bills for each gigabyte you actually retain, so sending less data directly reduces that portion of your bill.
