You pay based on what you use, with four separate usage meters that bill independently. Upload units cover file uploads and API actions, billed per 1,000 units. Storage is charged per GB per month for the original files you keep. CDN traffic is charged per GB of data delivered to your users. Video processing is charged per minute, with duration rounded up to the nearest 10 seconds. There are no tiers or fixed plans here. Each meter scales with your actual activity, so your total cost reflects your combined uploads, stored files, delivered traffic, and processed video.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as an upload unit for billing?
An upload unit is any file or API-related action, such as uploading a file, making a request, or requesting an image transformation. Different actions carry different unit costs. You are billed per 1,000 units. Image transformations run instantly, while other API operations each count toward your total separately.
How is a minute of video processing calculated?
Duration rounds up to the nearest 10 seconds, then bills per minute. A 52-second video becomes 60 seconds. Converting a 5-minute HD video to HD MP4 bills as 10 minutes because higher resolutions multiply the count. Generating thumbnails still transcodes the whole video, so a 5-minute clip bills as 5 minutes.
Which meter usually drives the largest share of my bill?
All four meters bill independently and appear together. CDN traffic tends to dominate for high-traffic media delivery. Storage grows for archival workloads, since it counts only original files and adds up cumulatively without resetting each cycle. Upload units drive cost for heavy transformation pipelines, and video processing scales with encoded minutes.
