Asynchronous and Event Driven: All APIs of Node.js library are asynchronous, that is, non-blocking. It essentially means a Node.js based server never waits for an API to return data. The server moves to the next API after calling it and a notification mechanism of Events of Node.js helps the server to get a response from the previous API call. What does one hour of billing map to on this listing?
You are billed per hour that the EC2 instance runs. One unit is one running virtual machine of your chosen instance type. The hourly rate covers the Node.js software and support. Underlying AWS compute, storage, and network charges are separate and set by AWS.
Am I charged the software rate when the instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does my cost change if I switch to a larger instance type?
Your cost tracks the instance type you run. Moving from a small type like t3.micro to a larger one like m5.24xlarge or a metal instance raises the hourly rate. The change applies from the moment the new instance runs. You are not locked to one type.
