Dimensions summary
Cost Analyzer uses a single usage-based dimension. You pay by the number of running instances measured per hour (HostHrs). Your cost scales directly with how many instances run and for how long. There are no tiers or fixed commitments to choose. If you run more instances, you pay more; if you run fewer, you pay less. This billing tracks actual hourly usage, so charges reflect your real workload activity across the measured period.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each active compute instance running during a given hour counts as one HostHrs unit. If several instances run in the same hour, each one is metered separately. The count reflects instances that are actually running, not those that are provisioned but stopped.
Charges apply per running instance per hour. Instances that are fully stopped or powered off do not add HostHrs charges. Only running time is metered, so your bill reflects hours during which instances are active. Underlying AWS storage fees for stopped instances are billed separately by AWS.
The platform gives visibility into your running instances and suggests right-sizing based on performance. You can retire idle instances, adjust tiers, and reallocate resources from one interface. Fewer running instances lower your HostHrs count, since billing scales with active hourly usage.

Usage instructions
- Deploy the Cost Analyzer image using the one-click deployment
- SSH into the Cost Analyzer Instance using the SSH Key Pair you selected at launch: ssh -i ""<path of .pem file>"" ec2-user@<public DNS of the EC2 Instance>
- Once you are logged in, type the command “zenmicro” and press Enter.
- You will be presented with the Cost Analyzer CLI dashboard.
