You pay by the hour for this Node.js web runtime, billed against the EC2 instance type you pick. Each dimension maps to one specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, and hardware you choose. Smaller shared-CPU instances (like t2 and t3 sizes) cost less per hour, while larger memory-optimized, compute-optimized, storage, and GPU instances (such as r5, c5, x1e, i3, and p3 families) cost more. You run only what you select and stop charges by stopping the instance. No upfront commitment applies to this usage-based model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing actually cover for this Node.js runtime?
One hour maps to one running EC2 instance of the size you pick. The software charge meters wall-clock time the instance runs. You get a Debian image with Node.js preinstalled, a package manager, a process manager, and support for common web frameworks. Each instance size sets the compute and memory you receive.
Am I charged when I stop or power off the instance?
The software charge meters only running instance-hours. When you stop the instance, hourly software charges stop. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from the software's hourly metering.
How do I move to a different instance size if my workload grows?
You are not locked into one size. Each dimension is a separate hourly rate tied to an EC2 instance type. To change compute or memory, stop the instance, switch to another supported instance type, and restart. Billing then meters the new size's hourly rate.
