DokuWiki is wiki software aimed at small companies documentation needs. It works on plain text files and thus needs no database. The software price is the same across all choices; your hourly cost changes with the compute, memory, and storage of the instance you pick. Options span general-purpose families (t, m), compute-optimized families (c), memory-optimized families (r), and storage-optimized families (i), in sizes from nano and micro up to 2xlarge. Larger instances handle heavier workloads and cost more per hour. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no term commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One hour covers running one EC2 instance with the DokuWiki appliance installed. The wiki, web server, database tools, and admin panels come preconfigured on that single instance. You pay the software rate plus the underlying instance rate for each hour the instance runs.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Note that stopped instances can still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, and by default the public IP address changes when you stop and restart.
The DokuWiki software is identical across every instance size. Larger sizes only add compute, memory, or storage capacity for heavier usage. Choosing a bigger instance raises your hourly cost but does not unlock extra wiki functions. All sizes include the same preconfigured appliance and admin tools.

Usage instructions
System initialization
After launch, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ and complete the first-boot configuration, or connect by SSH using the key pair selected at launch.
Operating system access
Connect using SSH as the Linux user admin with the selected EC2 key pair. Run privileged commands with sudo; this provides full OS-level administration.
Application access
Open http://<Public_DNS>/ in a web browser. The application may redirect to HTTPS after configuration.
