Redash: Open Source Data Visualization & Dashboards on AWS
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run Redash on, so there is no upfront commitment. The 34 options are not tiers or feature levels — they are different EC2 instance types. They fall into instance families: general-purpose (t2, t3, t3a, m4, m5, m5a, m6a, m6i, m7a, m7i), compute-optimized (c5, c5a, c6a), and memory-optimized (r5, r5a, r6a, r6i). Within each family, sizes like medium, large, and xlarge scale CPU and memory upward. Your hourly rate reflects the instance size you choose. Billing stops when you stop the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What software do I get when I run one of these hourly instances?
You get a preconfigured Redash Amazon Machine Image. It lets you connect to data sources, build queries, create visualizations, and share dashboards with your team. You deploy it using an AMI and CloudFormation template, then manage users through the Redash Settings panel.
Am I charged when I stop the Redash instance?
Software charges meter running time only. When you stop the instance, hourly software billing stops. You can restart it later at your convenience. Note that stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume, even though the software charge pauses.
How do I choose between the general-purpose, compute-optimized, and memory-optimized instance options?
General-purpose families balance CPU and memory for typical dashboard use. Compute-optimized families favor CPU-heavy query processing. Memory-optimized families provide more RAM for large datasets. All run the same Redash software; your choice affects the hourly rate and available resources, not the features.

Redash Architecture on AWS: Scalable, Secure, and Private Deployment
Redash runs on a single EC2 instance with IAM, Route 53, and Lets Encrypt SSL preconfigured. It provides secure, browser based access via a custom domain, ideal for teams deploying data visualization, dashboards, and analytics on AWS.
CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
