You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you choose to run Redash through this platform. Pricing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance runs. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size across several families. These include general-purpose (t2, t3, m4, m5, m5d), compute-optimized (c4, c5, c5d, c6a), memory-optimized (r4, r5, r5d, x1, x1e, z1d), storage-optimized (d2, i3), and accelerated options (f1, g3, p2, p3, h1). Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or GPU cost more per hour. You match the instance to your workload needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for each instance type?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the chosen type, billed per hour. The instance type sets the CPU, memory, storage, and any GPU you get. For example, t2.micro is a small general-purpose instance, while p3.16xlarge is a large GPU instance. You pay for each hour that instance runs.
Am I charged when the Redash instance is stopped or paused?
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops software billing. Underlying AWS storage attached to that instance may still incur separate AWS fees, but the platform meters running hours only.
How do I move to a bigger or smaller instance if my needs change?
You choose one instance type when you launch. To resize, you switch to a different instance type, which changes your hourly rate to match that type. Larger types cost more per hour; smaller types cost less. The change is not automatic — you select it during deployment or when relaunching.
