You pay by the hour for Apache Airflow running on an EC2 instance you choose. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, and your rate depends on which size you select. Options range from small burstable instances like t2.nano and t3.micro up to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU instances such as x1e.32xlarge, r5.24xlarge, and p3.16xlarge. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or GPU cost more per hour. You can start or stop usage as your workload needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit actually cover for each dimension?
Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of the named type. You pay for every hour that instance runs Apache Airflow. The rate covers the software plus the compute size you selected. Running two instances means paying two hourly rates. Instance type determines your CPU, memory, storage, and GPU resources.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. Stopping the instance halts the software rate. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while stopped. You control usage by starting and stopping the instance as your workload needs change.
Can I move to a different instance size later, and how does that affect billing?
You choose one instance type when you deploy. To change size, you switch to a different instance type running the same image. Your hourly rate then follows the new dimension. There is no separate tier upgrade; billing simply reflects whichever instance type is running at that time.
