You get a preconfigured Windows Server 2025 image already hardened to US STIG security standards, running on the EC2 instance size you pick. The hourly rate covers the hardened software license. Each dimension maps to one instance family and size, matching a set compute, memory, storage, or accelerator profile.
The software charge meters running hours only. When you stop or power off an instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from this listing's per-hour software rate.
Each instance type has its own hourly rate. If you launch or resize to a different type, billing follows the rate for whichever type is running at the time. The change is not a tier upgrade; you simply pay the rate tied to the active instance.
