You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run this pre-configured Windows server on. The listing charges no separate software fee tied to a single plan; instead, your cost tracks the compute you choose. Options span many instance families, including burstable t2 and t3 types, general-purpose m3 through m5 series, compute-optimized c3 through c5 types, and memory-optimized r3 through r5 and x1 types. Larger sizes carry more CPU and memory and bill at higher hourly rates. You scale cost up or down by selecting a different instance size.

What software comes pre-installed when I launch one of these instance sizes?
You launch a pre-configured Windows-based virtual machine image with the Lucee CFML runtime, Boncode connector, and Tomcat already set up. The image is ready to run applications without manual installation. Every instance size runs this same software; only the underlying compute resources differ.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
How do I scale capacity, and does the software charge change with instance size?
You scale by selecting a different EC2 instance size at launch. Larger sizes give more CPU and memory and bill at higher hourly rates. The software runs the same across all sizes, so your cost tracks the compute you choose, billed per hour of use.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
