This is a repackaged software product wherein additional charges apply for hardening.
This AWS-based ec2 comes pre-configured with the latest ALMA Linux 9 image that is optimized for security, featuring advanced hardening measures to help protect against vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry best practices.
This configuration includes stringent access controls, regular updates, and robust settings to enhance overall system integrity and resilience.
Implementing the foundational hardened image can help organizations establish a baseline level of security and reduce their risk exposure to common cyber threats. However, it's important to note that these benchmarks should be considered as a starting point, and organizations may need to customize them based on their specific security requirements and risk profile.
Implementing this advanced hardened image can help organizations further improve their security posture and better protect against more advanced and persistent threats.
Key features:
This hardened image map to many established standards and regulatory frameworks, including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), the ISO 27000 series of standards, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and others.
Hardening is a process that helps protect against unauthorized access, denial of service, and other cyberthreats by limiting potential weaknesses that make systems vulnerable to cyberattacks.

See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for a security-hardened ALMA Linux 9 image at the advanced Level 2 hardening. Pricing is not tiered by feature. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the compute size you choose. Smaller general-purpose instances like t2.micro cost less per hour than large memory, compute, storage, or GPU instances such as r7a, c7a, i3, or g5 families. You select the instance that fits your workload and pay only for the hours it runs. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for this hardened image?
You are billed per hour that a chosen EC2 instance runs the hardened ALMA Linux 9 image. One hour equals one running instance-hour. Each running instance meters separately. The rate matches the instance type you launch, so larger compute sizes bill more per hour.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or shut down?
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage or other resources tied to the stopped instance may still bill separately through AWS. To stop software charges, stop the instance.
How is this software licensed and what compliance frameworks does it target?
You buy usage-based hourly access with no upfront commitment. The image applies advanced Level 2 hardening. It aligns configurations with DISA STIG, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and NIST frameworks. Images are updated regularly with security patches rather than shipped as a one-time snapshot.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
