This is an all new Oracle Linux Server version 8.10 AMI finally with XFS root filesystem and ENA enabled. Fully compatible with RedHat kernel release using pre-configured Oracle rpm repositories. This AMI is intended for new Linux server instances and the recommended migration target for hosted application projects that benefit from an XFS filesystem. This AMI runs as a Hardware Virtualized Machine (HVM), 64bit, with ec2-user SeLinux context. This OS and boot partition are XFS filesystem format, which gives this AMI a competitive edge over others. This image uses Oracle Linux Server minimal install, which can operate well on nano instance types; yet provides the most flexibility in terms of scaling instance types and packages to fit your needs. Unlike other pricing models, TLC charges one super-low hourly or yearly rate on any size instance. Optional Oracle Enterprise OEL support, not included, is among the best in the business. Note: due to current AWS xen and nitro host limits, XFS root is bootable in kernel 4 only, which is the AMI default. What am I actually paying for in the hourly rate for this Oracle Linux image?
You pay for the software image license on the running instance, charged per hour. This is an EBS-backed HVM image without the Oracle product codes. The rate is set per EC2 instance type. AWS separately charges for the underlying compute, storage, and network usage on your bill.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, the hourly software rate stops accruing. Attached EBS storage may still incur separate AWS storage fees while stopped, but the image license meters running time only.
Does moving to a larger instance type change my rate automatically?
Yes. Your rate follows the instance type you launch. If you launch or resize to a larger type, that type's hourly rate applies for the hours it runs. There is no upfront commitment, so switching types simply changes which per-hour rate you pay.

To connect to the operating system, use SSH. the keypair you specified at launch, and the username ec2-user. Switch to root user with 'sudo su -' If running into issues assuming root ID, run 'sudo setenforce 0' first to temporarily disable Selinux and try again.
