Overview
Ion Channel is a software supply-chain risk-management platform for securing DevOps and monitoring applications and components, including open source dependencies in commercial software products. Ion Channel delivers assurance and software logistics for two use cases:
-
Software supply chain monitoring and update: Continuous supply chain monitoring of commercial and open source applications and components with software composition analysis of source code. Customers can set rules and thresholds for pass/fail on vulnerabilities, licenses and supply chain risk factors. For open source components, analysis includes a machine-readable Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), including all transitive dependencies, outdated and unspecified dependencies (technical debt), vulnerabilities, licenses, virus detection and ecosystem risk factors. Data is viewable and exportable on the Ion Channel console or can be delivered to an S3 bucket as hardened XML and JSON. Ion Channel can deliver source code updates, with auditable chain of custody, provenance and tamper-proofing, to the same S3 bucket as assurance data.
-
DevOps Security Automation: For customers running a CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis), Ion Channel provides API tools to automate supply chain analysis and enforce security criteria as software is built, generate auditable SBOMs for security approvers and continuously monitor the supply chain for new vulnerabilities, languages, licenses, dependencies and ecosystem risks.
Highlights
- Define rules for software acceptance based on vulnerabilities, licenses, version currency, test coverage, ecosystem risk and software documentation (about.yaml file) and see those rules automated in the CI/CD workflow or to approve/reject third party applications and components before they move onto your infrastructure.
- Fully open and portable Software Bill of Materials can be freely exported, shared and used in-house with no seat-licensing restrictions. Ion Channel SBOMs can be used for security authorization processes, to satisfy regulatory and insurance requirements, and can be provided to customers as evidence of cyber vigilance.
- Light lift and affordable pricing: Ion Channel component monitoring and update does not require access to customer systems. Ion Channel in a CI/CD workflow requires no software integration: all functionality is delivered via an open source command line tool and API calls. Per-analysis pricing is an order of magnitude less expensive than competing solutions with no seat license restrictions. Daily analysis for one software project, with governance and auditable assurance, costs $30/month.
