Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance size you run. The nine options fall into two instance families. The m6i sizes (large, xlarge, 2xlarge, 4xlarge) balance compute and memory. The c6i sizes (large, xlarge, 2xlarge, 4xlarge) plus c5.large focus on compute. Within each family, larger sizes handle more traffic and carry a higher hourly rate. You match the instance to your expected web traffic and scale up or down as needs change. Software charges apply on top of standard AWS infrastructure costs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Software charges accrue per instance-hour while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops the hourly software charge. Note that stopped instances may still incur standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes. The software licence meters running time only.
Each hourly rate maps to an AWS EC2 instance size. The m6i and c6i families scale from large through 4xlarge, with c5.large also offered. Larger sizes provide more CPU and memory. Penta Security recommends 4 to 64 GB of RAM depending on the size you run.
