You pay as you go, with charges combining several usage-based dimensions. A basic hourly usage fee applies while the service runs. You also pay hourly for each Web ACL you configure, so cost rises with the number of access control lists. On top of that, you pay per million requests processed in each region. Request pricing uses three volume bands: 5M-50M, 50M-100M, and 100M and above. These dimensions add together based on your actual traffic and configuration, so total cost scales with both setup size and request volume.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one Web ACL for the hourly Web ACL charge?
A Web ACL is a set of access control rules you configure to filter traffic to your applications. Each configured Web ACL bills separately by the hour. Adding more Web ACLs raises this part of your cost, since every one you set up meters its own hourly charge.
How do the request charges scale as my traffic grows across the three volume bands?
You pay per million requests processed in each region. Pricing uses three bands: 5M-50M, 50M-100M, and 100M and above. Charges are calculated per region, so traffic in each region counts on its own. Higher request volume moves you through these bands.
Which dimension drives most of my bill — Web ACLs or request volume?
Both charges apply at the same time and add together. The basic hourly fee and per Web ACL fee depend on how many access control lists you configure. Request charges depend on traffic. For sites with heavy traffic, per-million-request charges usually make up the larger share of the total.
