The first dimension charges per managed system, covering systems you patch, provision, and configure. The second dimension charges per monitored system, covering systems you track in real time. Each count is billed separately, so your total scales with how many systems you manage plus how many you monitor. Costs rise or fall as those monthly counts change, matching the pay-monthly cloud billing model for this product.

A managed system is any Linux client you patch, provision, or configure through the console. A monitored system is one you track in real time. A single system counts under both dimensions if you both manage and monitor it, so it can appear in each count.
The two charges bill independently and add together. You pay per managed system plus per monitored system each month. Neither metric caps or discounts the other. If you manage many systems but monitor few, the managed count drives most of your bill, and the reverse also holds.

Usage instructions
Use the image to start an instance of your choice in Amazon EC2. Once the instance is running connect to it using a Secure Shell (SSH) client as 'ec2-user' and the configured SSH key.
If you started from scratch an IAM role with the required permissions was automatically created. As this role isn't attached automatically at instance launch make sure to attach this role after the instance has launched.
