OceanBase: A Highly Scalable Distributed Database for Transactional, Analytical, and AI Workloads.

    Overview

Simplify Your Tech Stack with an Integrated Cloud Database Architecture

HTAP for Real-Time Analytics: Integrated online transactional processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP) in a single database, offering row-based, columnar, and hybrid row-column storage options, eliminating the ETL processes (extract, transform, and load) as well as redundant data storage.Robust resource isolation to protect mission-critical workloads while minimizing additional storage costs.

Multi-model for Streamlined Tech Stack: Native support for multiple data access with a single engine, including SQL and NoSQL APIs, meeting diverse data model needs while streamlining your data architecture.OceanBase Cloud supports various data types including KV, JSON, GIS, XML, full-text indexing, and SQL queries, with a Table API and an HBase-compatible interface.

SQL + AI for AI Applications: Vector data type, vector indexes, and vector search are supported with flexible access via SQL and SDK.Integrated architecture enables hybrid search across multiple data models (vector, relational, GIS, etc.), streamlining the AI stack and enhancing applications like RAG, personalized recommendations, multi-modal search, and AI agents.

More Agile, More Reliable, and More Cost-Effective

Elastic Scalability: On-demand scaling in high-concurrency scenarios without downtime or application changes. Linear performance growth via horizontal, vertical, and tenant-level scaling. With a TPC-C Benchmark score of 707 million tpmC, OceanBase delivers unparalleled speed and stability for mission-critical workloads.

Always-on Availability: OceanBase Cloud delivers a recovery point objective (RPO) of 0 and a recovery time objective (RTO) of under 8 seconds. Automatic disaster recovery from server to regional failures ensures minimal downtime and continuous access to mission-critical workloads, preventing service disruptions and data loss.

Cost-Effectiveness: Industry-leading compression technology cuts storage space by 70% - 90%, reducing storage costs by over 30%. With multi-tenant technology, multiple database instances can be seamlessly integrated to maximize resource utilization while streamlining your infrastructure.

    Highlights

    • Strong-performance HTAP: OceanBase is only distributed database that has refreshed both TPC-C record, at 707 million tmpC, and TPC-H record, at 15.26 million QphH @30000GB. It has been supporting the Double 11 with 61 million QPS at peak time and over 10,000 nodes.
    • Multi-tenant: OceanBase Database is a native distributed database with a multi-tenant architecture that allows for data and permission isolation between tenants. The tenant can select a compatibility mode and configure the replica quantity, storage location, and computing resources.
    • Data consistency: According to the Paxos consensus protocol, OceanBase Database supports chain validation between clusters and replicas to prevent data tampering. It automatically checks silent data corruptions every day to ensure strong global transaction consistency.
