Run mission-critical transactions, real-time analytics, and AI workloads on OceanBase Cloud, a fully managed distributed SQL database (open source) surviving node, AZ, and region failures with zero data loss (RPO=0) and sub-8-second failover. MySQL and Oracle compatible.

Born Battle-Tested, originally built for Alipay handling 100M+ TPS during Singles' Day, OceanBase has processed the world's largest transaction volumes with zero data loss. Now available as a fully managed service on AWS. Product Capabilities Operational Simplicity: Push-button deployment, rolling upgrades, zero-downtime patching, automated backups, and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR). Always-on Availability: Zero data loss (RPO=0) and sub-8-second recovery (RTO<8s). Automatic AZ failover with active-active or primary-standby replication. Intrinsic Security: End-to-end encryption (TDE), granular RBAC, and compliance with global data protection standards. Core Benefits Unified Workload Engine: OLTP + OLAP + AI on one engine. Row, column, or hybrid storage per table. Elastic Scalability: Instant linear scaling for reads and writes--horizontal, vertical, or tenant-level--without downtime. Radical Cost Efficiency: 70-90% storage savings, 30% TCO reduction via advanced compression and native multi-tenancy. Seamless Migration: Drop-in MySQL and Oracle compatibility with reverse sync. Build with mainstream frameworks and tools.

    Highlights

    • Unified Database for OLTP, OLAP & AI: Run mission-critical transactional, real-time analytics, and AI workloads on a single distributed engine--eliminating ETL pipelines, data movement, and stack sprawl. Define row, column, or hybrid storage at the table level and execute instant, zero-downtime schema changes.
    • Unbreakable Availability: Architect for the unexpected, achieve zero data loss (RPO=0) and sub-8-second automatic failover (RTO<8s) with a distributed multi-replica architecture. Survive node, zone, and region failures automatically while maintaining continuous service with active-active or primary-standby deployment.
    • Cost Efficiency at Scale: Slash storage costs by 70-90% and reduce overall TCO by 30% through advanced compression and native multi-tenancy. Scale reads and writes elastically-horizontally, vertically, or at tenant level -without downtime or manual sharding.

Linear Scalability and Seamless MySQL Compatibility

    Reviewed on Jun 25, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Performance-wise, we're seeing linear scalability; adding nodes actually delivers predictable performance gains. The MySQL protocol compatibility is also seamless—all our existing ORMs and connection pools worked out of the box with zero driver changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, so good. We completed our production cutover three months ago, and everything is running within expected parameters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved the "capacity planning nightmare" for our seasonal business peaks. Instead of maintaining 200% over-provisioned capacity year-round, we now scale elastically based on actual demand. This flexibility has reduced our cloud infrastructure costs by 30% during off-peak quarters while ensuring we never drop transactions during flash sales.

Game-Changing HTAP Analytics with High Compression and Excellent Performance

    Reviewed on Jun 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The HTAP capability is a game-changer for us, allowing real-time analytics on transactional data without performance degradation. Combined with the high compression rates, we are seeing excellent performance while significantly reducing our storage footprint.
What do you dislike about the product?
The system stability has been excellent throughout our deployment. We haven't encountered any operational hurdles, and performance remains consistent under load.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved our data latency issue by eliminating the need for separate data warehouses for reporting. This consolidation has sped up our decision-making process and cut infrastructure costs by nearly 30%.

OceanBase:Strong Consistency, Seamless Scaling, and High MySQL Comp.

    Reviewed on Jun 12, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The professional support during onboarding and the quality of the documentation are top-notch. Beyond that, the distributed architecture's transparency is a major win. Our applications connect as if to a single database, and OceanBase handles the underlying distribution seamlessly, which has eliminated our need for complex, application-level sharding logic.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our experience has been positive overall. The product balances advanced features with usability well, and we don't have any specific suggestions for improvement at this stage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were facing scalability limits and a high total cost of ownership with our previous commercial database. OceanBase solved this by offering a scalable, cost-effective alternative with excellent support, ensuring a low-risk migration and sustainable long-term costs.

Intuitive Web Console and Strong MySQL Compatibility Made Migration Easy

    Reviewed on Jun 12, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I'm particularly impressed by the operational simplicity and high compatibility. The web console is intuitive, making daily monitoring and management tasks very straightforward. At the same time, its high degree of MySQL compatibility allowed us to migrate several applications with minimal code changes, which was a huge relief for our development team.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, we have no major complaints. The migration and daily operation have been smooth, and the product feels mature and reliable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved our problem of managing a sprawling set of MySQL instances. The consolidation through multi-tenancy has not only reduced our hardware and licensing costs but also cut down the time our Ops team spends on routine database maintenance by a significant margin.

Efficient Multi-Tenant HTAP Platform with an Intuitive OCP Console

    Reviewed on Jun 12, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The multi-tenant architecture is incredibly efficient, we're running 10+ tanents for different microservices on a single cluster with true resource isolation. The HTAP capability is also a game-changer; we're running real-time analytics on transactional data without ETL delays. Plus, the OCP management console is intuitive, making daily ops surprisingly straightforward for a distributed system.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't encountered any operational issues since going live. The migration was smoother than our initial estimates, and both our Dev and Ops teams adapted to the platform faster than expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We consolidated our fragmented database infrastructure that was sprawled across dozens of underutilized MySQL and Oracle instances. This consolidation reduced our operational overhead by roughly 40%, simplified our backup strategies, and cut our total infrastructure costs significantly while improving query performance.
