AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this hardened Ubuntu 24.04 image bundled with Docker. Pricing is set per Amazon EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on which instance you run. Options span general purpose, compute optimized, memory optimized, high memory, storage optimized, GPU, and machine learning families. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or accelerators carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term. You start and stop instances as needed, and charges follow actual runtime. The software fee applies on top of standard AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what do I get with the image?
Each unit is one running Amazon EC2 instance of the chosen type, billed per hour. You get a hardened Ubuntu 24.04 image with Docker preinstalled. The image applies secure defaults, tighter service exposure, and disciplined package selection to support audit preparation for standards like PCI DSS, HIPAA, NIST, CIS, and FIPS.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software fee meters running time. Fully stopped instances do not accrue the hourly software charge. Charges resume when you start the instance again. Underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply while an instance is stopped, since those are separate from this software fee.
Does my hourly rate change automatically if I switch to a larger instance type?
Yes. The rate is tied to the specific instance type you run. If you launch a different type, that type's hourly rate applies for its runtime. There is no automatic upgrade; you choose the instance size at launch, and charges follow the actual type and hours used.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources.
