You pay by the hour for the software running on an Amazon EC2 instance. The price you pay depends on which EC2 instance type you launch. Each dimension maps to one instance type, so charges scale with the compute, memory, and storage capacity you select. Smaller instances like t2.micro or t3.medium bill at a lower hourly rate than large memory, GPU, or bare-metal instances. There are no tiers or feature differences between choices. The seller recommends t3.medium as a starting size. Billing stops when you stop or terminate the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly am I paying for with the hourly rate on each instance type?
You pay an hourly software charge for the InvoicePlane image running on the Amazon EC2 instance type you pick. The rate covers the pre-configured software; the underlying AWS compute is billed separately by AWS. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, so your rate follows the instance you launch.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge accrues only while the instance runs. When you stop or terminate the instance, the software billing stops. Note that stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are separate from the software charge.
Which instance size should I start with, and can I move to another later?
The seller recommends t3.medium as a starting size. You can launch a different instance type at any time, and your hourly rate changes to match whatever type you run. There are no tiers or feature differences between instance choices, only compute, memory, and storage capacity.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
