Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this hardened Oracle Linux 8 image, billed per running instance. The many dimensions map directly to AWS EC2 instance types, from small burstable options like t2.nano and t3.micro to large compute, memory, storage, GPU, and bare metal families. You pick the instance size that matches your workload; the software rate attaches to whichever type you launch. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. There are no upfront commitments or term contracts. Billing scales with how long each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you launch, billed per hour. The rate covers the hardened Oracle Linux 8 software license on that single instance. If you run several instances, each one meters separately and adds its own hourly software charge to your bill.
The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software fees. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage costs for attached volumes, but the hardened image license meters running hours only.
A hardened image is a virtual machine configured to reduce security vulnerabilities using recognized configuration standards. It runs like a standard instance and bills the same way: an hourly software rate tied to the EC2 instance type you launch. Hardening does not add a separate charge.
