You pay by the hour for Linux Mint 21 with a graphical desktop, plus vendor support. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose, so there is one hourly software rate per instance size. Rates scale with instance capacity: small shared instances like t1.micro cost less per hour, while large compute, memory, storage, GPU, and bare-metal instances cost more. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing runs only while the instance runs. No upfront commitment or fixed term applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly rate on each instance type?
You get Linux Mint 21 with a graphical desktop, plus vendor support, running on the EC2 instance size you select. The rate covers the software licence and support. AWS charges separately for the underlying compute, storage, and network. Larger instances carry more CPU, memory, or GPU capacity.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. When you stop the instance, the software charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly software charge.
What happens to my cost if I switch to a different instance type?
Each instance type has its own hourly software rate. When you move your workload to a different size, billing switches to that instance's rate. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term, so you can change instance types as your workload needs shift. Billing follows the instance you actually run.
