You pay through a single consumption billing unit that covers all Claude Platform usage. This unit applies across every model and feature, so there are no separate plans or tiers to choose. Your cost scales with how much you use. Usage is measured by input and output tokens, which are the units of text the models process and generate. Different models carry different token rates, and effort or reasoning settings affect how many tokens a task consumes. Options like prompt caching and batch processing can lower token costs. You are billed based on total consumption.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What is one consumption billing unit measured in?
Usage is measured in tokens, the chunks of text a model reads and writes. Input tokens cover the text you send. Output tokens cover the text the model generates. Each model charges a different rate per million input tokens and per million output tokens.
How do input and output tokens combine into my bill?
Both charge separately and add together on the same invoice. Output tokens carry a higher rate than input tokens for a given model. Long generated responses raise output charges, while large prompts raise input charges. Total consumption across both drives your cost.
Can I lower my token costs without changing models?
Yes. Prompt caching reuses repeated input across requests and can cut costs up to 90% on cached content. Batch processing groups non-urgent requests and can cut costs up to 50%. Running inference in a US-only region raises input and output rates by 1.1x.

Efficient Coding with Minor Glitches
Reviewed on Aug 27, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I use Claude to solve my questions, do coding, and work very efficiently and fast. The code or work it does for me is very clean and effective. It performs better than GPT, especially in the coding area. Setting up Claude was pretty easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it misunderstands and gives me wrong things, especially in some codes and all. When I'm trying to make backend or ML codes, or when I'm debugging, it sometimes doesn't work in rare cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Claude to solve questions, do coding efficiently, and finish tasks quickly. It's great for clean, effective code but sometimes misunderstands, giving wrong results, especially with backend and ML codes.

Clean UI, Strong Integrations, and Reliable Long-Context Performance
Reviewed on Aug 23, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Claude offers a clean, low-friction UI across web, desktop, and mobile, with live-rendered Artifacts that make it easy to iterate on code and documents inline. It also has strong integrations via MCP (Google Drive, GitHub, Slack, etc.), plus native extensions for Chrome, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with a dedicated coding agent. Latency is competitive, and benchmark performance is strong across coding, reasoning, and long-context tasks, with an extended-thinking mode that helps on harder problems.
On the commercial and developer side, the tiered pricing model (Haiku/Sonnet/Opus/Mythos), combined with prompt caching and batch processing, can improve ROI at scale. Documentation and developer tooling are solid for onboarding, although the depth of enterprise support varies by plan. On the intelligence side, it stands out for notably low hallucination and sycophancy rates, reliable tool use, and good uncertainty calibration—making it a strong fit for agentic and RAG-style systems where output verifiability matters as much as fluency.
What do you dislike about the product?
Claude’s main limitations include rate limits and context ceilings that can interrupt longer agentic workflows; occasional over-caution, where it declines or heavily hedges on otherwise benign requests that sit near safety-sensitive areas such as security research, medical, or legal topics; no persistent memory by default, meaning conversations start fresh unless it’s explicitly enabled; a smaller integration ecosystem via MCP compared with more established plugin marketplaces like OpenAI or Microsoft’s Copilot stack; multimodal gaps, including no native image or video generation and more limited audio handling; and a higher per-token cost on the top-tier Opus model, which makes ROI calculations especially important for high-volume use. None of these are dealbreakers, but they’re all worth weighing against Claude’s strengths.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Claude solves multiple problems in my workflow—coding and development, research and analysis, and studying. Before using it, I was dealing with several pain points: losing too much time to manual, repetitive work; struggling to get high-quality output quickly; not having technical expertise available on demand; and finding it hard to organize or analyze information effectively. Claude tackles all of these at once—it saves me a significant amount of time, raises the quality of what I produce, and helps me learn and understand things faster. Rather than juggling separate tools or spending hours on tasks I’m not an expert in, I can get quicker, higher-quality results while building real understanding along the way. That learning compounds over time as I keep using it for coding, research, and study.

Tailored Responses, Smooth Setup but Limited by Token Constraints
Reviewed on Aug 21, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like Claude because the responses are more specific compared to the other tools I use. It really stands out during events like the World Cup when I use it for match analysis and to know the games and possible match lineups. The tailored responses make a difference in how I stay updated. The setup was pretty easy, with straightforward onboarding and reasonable rates for the paid plan. I can tailor each search engine according to the work I want to do, which is a real plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I think could be improved is the limited tokens that are given for queries. As a heavy user of Claude, I often query multiple times a day, and sometimes I reach the token limit and have to switch to Gemini. This interruption can cut off a conversation mid-flow, and I'm unable to link back to previous chats, which makes my work not flow really well. It would be better if heavy users were prioritized, especially those on paid plans.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Claude delivers tailored responses faster than search engines and keeps me updated on internet happenings.
