The openEuler-24.09 operating system software carries no license charge. You pay only by the hour for the arm64 (AArch64) EC2 instance you run it on. Pricing is organized entirely by AWS instance type, so your rate depends on the instance family and size you choose. Compute-optimized, general-purpose, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, high-performance-computing, and graphics families are all supported, each offered in sizes ranging from small to metal. Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour because they provide more resources. You scale cost by selecting the instance that fits your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The openEuler operating system carries no software license fee. Your hourly charge covers only the arm64 EC2 instance you run. Because openEuler is open source, you pay AWS infrastructure costs alone, with no separate charge added for the operating system on any instance type.
Hourly charges apply only while an instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly compute charges. Underlying AWS storage for attached volumes may still bill separately. Since the openEuler software carries no license fee, stopping an instance halts the metered instance-hour cost.
Each instance type maps to a fixed set of AWS compute, memory, and storage resources. Larger sizes provide more of those resources, so they bill at a higher hourly rate. Metal sizes give access to a full physical server. You pick the size matching your workload.
