What does one unit of usable capacity mean for billing?
One unit is a terabyte of usable storage capacity, measured hourly. The system tracks how much capacity you have provisioned and multiplies it by the hours it stays active. Each Marketplace deployment starts as a working 1TB parallel file system, then bills for the capacity you actually use.
How does my cost change as my usable capacity grows or shrinks?
Your hourly charge tracks your active usable capacity. When you add capacity, the per-hour rate applies to the larger amount. When you reduce it, the charge falls accordingly. There are no fixed tiers, so changes take effect as your capacity changes, without a manual upgrade step.
Is this pay-as-you-go, or do I commit to an amount upfront?
This is usage-based billing with no upfront capacity commitment. You are metered per terabyte per hour on the capacity you keep active. This suits workloads where storage needs vary, since you pay only for what you use during each hour rather than a fixed reserved amount.
