Progress Flowmon enables application and network visibility across datacenter, private or hybrid cloud environment, providing you with a holistic overview of your entire estate, detailed insights for troubleshooting and maximum operational stability.
Progress Flowmon for AWS is a software solution specially designed for the analysis of cloud and on-prem traffic. It processes traffic data from vTAP, both VPC Traffic Mirroring and third-party, collects flows (NetFlow/IPFIX/VPC FlowLogs) and analyzes them to provide insight for resolving service degradations or maintaining the availability of business-critical applications. The solution does not rely on proprietary flow data sources, making it well-suited for deployment in heterogeneous environments. Performance and storage capacity varies by license.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Try this product free for 30 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
You pay by the hour for the AWS EC2 instance type that runs Progress Flowmon for AWS. Pricing is usage-based, so you are billed only for the hours each instance runs. The many dimensions represent different EC2 instance families and sizes, including general-purpose (m3, m4, m5, m5n), compute-optimized (c3, c4, c5, c5n), memory-optimized (r5, r5n), and burstable (t2, t3) types. Within each family, larger sizes provide more compute, memory, and network capacity for higher traffic volumes. You choose the instance that matches your network monitoring workload and scale by selecting a size accordingly.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and am I charged when the instance is stopped?
You pay per hour for each running EC2 instance that hosts Progress Flowmon. Charges accrue only while the instance runs. Fully stopped instances stop accruing software charges, though underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply separately from the software licence.
How do I scale monitoring capacity, and does that change my hourly cost?
You scale by choosing a different instance size or family. Larger sizes handle higher traffic volumes but bill at a higher hourly rate. You run one instance type at a time, so your hourly cost matches the size you select for your workload.
Which instance family should I pick for my network monitoring workload?
Choose based on your resource needs. Compute-optimized families (c3, c4, c5, c5n) favor processing. Memory-optimized (r5, r5n) favor large data sets. General-purpose (m3, m4, m5, m5n) balance both. Burstable (t2, t3) suit lighter, variable traffic. Each meters the same way, by running hour.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Access the appliance via SSH using the username flowmon and the key set in step 2.
Once connected you will need to issue command sysconfig.
[flowmon@<EC2_Instance_Public_DNS>]$ sysconfig
Set up the device hostname and the GUI password.
Access the GUI via web browser at https://<EC2_Instance_Public_DNS>.
Log in using the username admin and the password set in step 5.
Later on, this functionality is available in the web interface. Enter Configuration Center,
the System tab, User Settings. To change the admin password, click on the Edit button
(pencil icon) when logged in as admin, check the Change password checkbox and then
type in and confirm the new password.
User Settings page provides also additional user management functionality to create,
edit or remove user accounts or change their passwords. Admin user cannot be removed.
Note: Username, password, first name, last name and email address are the required
fields to create user account. All the information is stored just in the instance's local DB.
To monitor and assess application functions
Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region.
Choose Instances and select your launched instance.
Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab
at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
To get more detailed information about instance status, like CPU load, memory
consumption, disk usage, network interfaces status and utilization, visit instance's
web interface, enter Configuration Center, Overview tab.

What do you like best about the product?
The best Network monitoring and security tool, that I have seen. In terms of scalability. The precise metrics that we get from this tool are promising and this is the cost-effective. We all need less cost and more efficiency is int it :) .
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few cons about this tool, where only experienced user can access and understand the tool in effective way. If you are a start-up then cost price is a demerit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly it will focus on Network monitoring, and security compliance, and audit purposes. deep data granularity and the best feature is it will detect the root cause precisely.

What do you like best about the product?
Network traffic monitoring helps organisations a great visibility into network performance, anamoly detection, network security, helps identifying potential threats. Flowmon undeniably is a great platform that offers all the above features. Flowmon processes telemetry data like ip flows and raw packets from various network devices which is stored and can be later used to analyse the network traffic and create data visualisation dashboards. With organisations moving all their infrastructure to cloud, best part is that it supports monitoring cloud and hybrid environments. It is easy to use and integrate in an environment, they provide great customer support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothig as such so far as its a great tool for network monitoring
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flowman collects and stores network traffic which inturn can be used to improve network performance and increase data granularity. It helps resolving network issues including incidents such as servers with outdated certificates, a faulty server hogging the bandwidth with incorrect configuration etc.. With the collected data, we can create customised dashboards that provide great visibility into network level data which helps with retrospective analysis. Flowmon collector is suitable for both on premises and cloud environments, it provides insights of both the environments in one UI which eliminates managing multiple tools for monitoring.
