You only pay for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The rate covers the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS software running on that instance. Each instance you launch is metered separately. Running two instances of the same type doubles the hourly charge.
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Each dimension maps to one instance type, so cost changes when you switch types. You choose a new type and the hourly rate follows that type. There is no upfront commitment, so you can change types as your compute, memory, or GPU needs change.
