You pay by the hour for this Ubuntu 26.04 image, billed per running instance. The many dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific Amazon EC2 instance type, such as general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage, GPU, and high-performance families. Your rate depends on which instance type you launch. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute, memory, or storage. You pick the instance that fits your workload and pay only for the hours it runs. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does each hourly dimension represent, and what do I actually receive when I subscribe?
Each dimension maps to one Amazon EC2 instance type running the Ubuntu 26.04 image. You get a ready-to-launch machine image on the instance size you pick. The hourly rate covers the software; you also pay standard AWS charges for the underlying compute you run.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the Ubuntu image itself bills only for hours the instance actually runs.
Do I commit upfront, or pay only for what I use?
You pay as you go. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term. Charges accrue by the hour for each running instance. If you launch multiple instances, each one bills separately at the rate for its instance type. Shut instances down to stop software charges.
