You pay by the hour for the software running on an Amazon EC2 instance. Each pricing line matches a specific EC2 instance type, so your hourly rate depends on the machine size you pick. Smaller instances like t2.nano or t3.micro carry lower hourly rates, while large memory, compute, or GPU instances cost more per hour. The software function is the same across all choices; only the underlying compute capacity changes. You select an instance sized to your data volume, then billing accrues for each hour it runs. AWS charges the EC2 infrastructure separately.

What do I actually get for the hourly rate on each EC2 instance line?
You get the IoT Bridge for Snowflake software running on that Amazon Machine Image. The software connects to an MQTT Server, consumes Sparkplug messages from Edge devices, and pushes that data into Snowflake. The function is identical across instance types; the machine size only sets compute capacity and the hourly rate.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees, billed separately by AWS. Charges resume for each hour the instance runs again.
Which drives my bill — the number of Edge devices or the instance I choose?
Your software bill is driven only by the EC2 instance type you run and how many hours it runs. Device count and message volume do not add separate charges. The bridge ingests only when values change, so you can size one instance to your data volume.
