"# Connecting to Asana's MCP Server

The Asana MCP server is available at:
    <https://mcp.asana.com/sse>

This server requires authentication with your Asana account. When connecting, you will be prompted to authorize the application to access your Asana data.

    🔒 Allowlist

Due to the implementation of an OAuth redirect URI allowlist, some third-party applications might require additional configuration or registration of their redirect URI with Asana Support before a successful connection can be established. If you’re a maintainer of an MCP client, see Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server  for details on how to register.

    Available tools

Asana’s MCP server includes 30+ tools for:

    1. Project tracking and status updates
    2. Task creation and management
    3. User information
    4. Getting updates on Goals
    5. Team organization
    6. Quick Asana object searching via typeahead

    Troubleshooting

    1. If authentication fails, try logging out of your Asana account and logging back in.
If that does not address the issue or you see a ""Client not found"" error, try removing the Asana MCP integration within your client and adding it back.

    2. Ensure your MCP client supports SSE-based servers (not Streamable HTTP)

    3. If you’re still not able to connect or are seeing an invalid_redirect_uri error,
reach out to the maintainer of the tool you're using or see
      Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server

    4. Check that your client can handle OAuth authentication flows

    5. Verify you have the necessary permissions in your Asana workspace

    Requirements

    1. A compatible MCP client (Claude.ai, Cursor, or any application that has implemented an MCP client)
    2. The app named "Asana MCP" is not blocked via Asana app management .
If you're not sure if the app is blocked, try to connect your MCP client to the server and go through the authorization flow. Versatile Views and Automation That Streamline Team Collaboration

    Reviewed on Jul 13, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
"What I like best about Asana is its incredible versatility in project management. Being able to toggle between Board, List, and Timeline views allows me and my team to visualize our tasks in the way that best fits our current workflow. The intuitive interface makes it very easy to onboard new team members, and the automation features have significantly reduced the time we spend on repetitive administrative tasks, allowing us to focus more on high-impact work. It has truly streamlined our team's collaboration and kept everyone aligned on our project goals."
What do you dislike about the product?
"What I dislike about Asana is the pricing structure, especially for smaller teams or startups. As the team scales, the cost of upgrading to premium features becomes quite high compared to other task management tools on the market. Additionally, the search function can sometimes feel a bit unintuitive when trying to find very specific archived tasks, which can be time-consuming when working on complex projects with a vast amount of data. It would be great to see more flexibility in the pricing tiers and improvements to the search algorithm to make navigation faster and more efficient."
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
"Asana is helping us solve the problem of fragmented communication and missed deadlines. Before using Asana, our team struggled to keep track of project status and individual responsibilities across different channels. By centralizing all our tasks, documentation, and deadlines in one place, Asana has significantly improved our transparency and accountability. It benefits us by ensuring that every team member knows exactly what they need to work on and when it is due, which has led to a major increase in our overall team productivity and a much smoother workflow during project execution."
