"# Connecting to Asana's MCP Server

The Asana MCP server is available at:
    <https://mcp.asana.com/sse>

This server requires authentication with your Asana account. When connecting, you will be prompted to authorize the application to access your Asana data.

    🔒 Allowlist

Due to the implementation of an OAuth redirect URI allowlist, some third-party applications might require additional configuration or registration of their redirect URI with Asana Support before a successful connection can be established. If you’re a maintainer of an MCP client, see Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server  for details on how to register.

    Available tools

Asana’s MCP server includes 30+ tools for:

    1. Project tracking and status updates
    2. Task creation and management
    3. User information
    4. Getting updates on Goals
    5. Team organization
    6. Quick Asana object searching via typeahead

    Troubleshooting

    1. If authentication fails, try logging out of your Asana account and logging back in.
If that does not address the issue or you see a ""Client not found"" error, try removing the Asana MCP integration within your client and adding it back.

    2. Ensure your MCP client supports SSE-based servers (not Streamable HTTP)

    3. If you’re still not able to connect or are seeing an invalid_redirect_uri error,
reach out to the maintainer of the tool you're using or see
      Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server

    4. Check that your client can handle OAuth authentication flows

    5. Verify you have the necessary permissions in your Asana workspace

    Requirements

    1. A compatible MCP client (Claude.ai, Cursor, or any application that has implemented an MCP client)
    2. The app named "Asana MCP" is not blocked via Asana app management .
If you're not sure if the app is blocked, try to connect your MCP client to the server and go through the authorization flow. You'll either be able to authorize the app like normal or, if the app is currently blocked, be prompted to send a request for your admin to unblock the app for your domain.

Effective Project Management with Room for Improvement

    Reviewed on Jul 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I use Asana for project timelines, from assignment to completion. It helps me manage project deadlines and provides insights and achievements over weeks, months, or even a year. I like that Asana allows the project handler to request or make changes like deadline adjustments, attachment requirements, and general updates. It's also useful for keeping projects private and only visible to certain members of the group. As a designer working remotely in a team of 25 people, it helps me connect directly with project owners within Asana to get project guidelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like ownership of changing deadlines should be restricted to a single person sometimes. In some cases, only the project owner should have the ability to make changes, not everyone. Asana should add an option for designating a project owner or manager who can manage these changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Asana for project timelines, tracking deadlines, attachments, and updates. It provides insights on achievements and keeps projects private, making it easy to connect with project owners. These features are valuable for managing our team of 25 working remotely.

Asana Keeps Me Organized—Fast, Fair-Priced, and Great Support

    Reviewed on Jul 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Asana has helped me get organized, hold myself accountable, and meet deadlines that I was missing before because I was losing notes amongst the 15 notepads and legal pads I was writing every single task and thought and reminder in! I LOVE that it can integrate with ChatGPT! That has honestly been the biggest upgrade since I've started using Asana close to a year ago. The price point is very fair, the performance is great - there's never any glitches and it never runs slow, and the support is phenomenal!
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly I haven't found any dislikes so far about Asana. I don't think that I use it to its fullest capability because I'm the only one on the team that uses it. It makes for an excellent invoice payment tracker and to do list for me. I color coded the different categories of my day to day tasks (Administrative, HR, Finance, Brain Dump, etc.) and I can look at the calendar view and see very easily what I've got on the docket for that day. It works very well with my ADHD brain!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm not missing deadlines! And that is benefitting me because my boss is happy and I stay out of trouble lol. Before Asana, I was a hot mess express! Seriously, I can fill a legal pad up from front to back in about three days. With Asana, I can get all of my thoughts out of my head in my Brain Dump project, and then I can go back and sort each task into the appropriate project depending on whether it's HR related, Finance related, or just regular ole Admin related. And no more legal pads stacked up on my desk or shuffling to find notes about x, y, or z.

Simple, Versatile UI with Smooth Integrations Across Teams

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is simple but provides enough versatility to use across multiple teams in an organization. The integrations work with softwares our company already utilizes and for the most part it performs well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onboarding has been a bit tough for some of our team members but we will get there with more training. Would be nice to see more training features for specific roles in a company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Giving clarity of work and a source of truth to our team.
