"# Connecting to Asana's MCP Server

The Asana MCP server is available at:
    <https://mcp.asana.com/sse>

This server requires authentication with your Asana account. When connecting, you will be prompted to authorize the application to access your Asana data.

    🔒 Allowlist

Due to the implementation of an OAuth redirect URI allowlist, some third-party applications might require additional configuration or registration of their redirect URI with Asana Support before a successful connection can be established. If you’re a maintainer of an MCP client, see Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server  for details on how to register.

    Available tools

Asana’s MCP server includes 30+ tools for:

    1. Project tracking and status updates
    2. Task creation and management
    3. User information
    4. Getting updates on Goals
    5. Team organization
    6. Quick Asana object searching via typeahead

    Troubleshooting

    1. If authentication fails, try logging out of your Asana account and logging back in.
If that does not address the issue or you see a ""Client not found"" error, try removing the Asana MCP integration within your client and adding it back.

    2. Ensure your MCP client supports SSE-based servers (not Streamable HTTP)

    3. If you’re still not able to connect or are seeing an invalid_redirect_uri error,
reach out to the maintainer of the tool you're using or see
      Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server

    4. Check that your client can handle OAuth authentication flows

    5. Verify you have the necessary permissions in your Asana workspace

    2. The app named "Asana MCP" is not blocked via Asana app management .
If you're not sure if the app is blocked, try to connect your MCP client to the server and go through the authorization flow. User-Friendly Tool That Streamlines Team Collaboration and Accountability

    Reviewed on Jul 20, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Very user friendly, can work with many others in a project easily. It has helped our team collaborate and hold people accountable to their tasks and see timelines with all departments. The set up was easy and creating the templates has been straight forward. Integrating into teams and email is good too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how you can only add quantities of 5 people to a team, for payment structure, after a certain amount. In my opinion, you should only have to pay for the number of team members you have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping with cross department communication and keeping our projects on track.

Efficient Project Management with Easy Collaboration

    Reviewed on Jul 20, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy Asana is to use. We pull it up in meetings, work through each item line by line, and it allows us to keep notes, files, sub-tasks, and deadlines all in one place. It's especially valuable for projects with multi-step tasks and dependencies, allowing me to narrow my focus on what's important now. The initial setup was easy too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Uploading templates that I create offline could be improved. To get Asana looking the way we wanted, it felt like that process was more involved than it needed to be. Having a better AI assistant to use would be nice. The published help articles are OK. They give enough detail, but then you have to experiment with how you've built your template. Rather, my preference would be for Asana's AI tools to spot potential issues during or after the upload process and help correct those and save that project as a template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana lets me see upcoming tasks, identify potential bottlenecks, set priorities based on urgency, and ensure work is paced properly. It manages multi-step projects and dependencies, consolidates notes, files, and tasks in one place, enhancing focus on current priorities.

Super Friendly UX and Powerful Organization Capabilities

    Reviewed on Jul 17, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The UX is super friendly, and the capabilities feel out of this world when it comes to organizing stuff.
What do you dislike about the product?
The rules feel less intuitive overall, especially when it comes to the more complex parts. I guess it just lacks a better option for adoption.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us keep track of the team’s performance and what people are working on. It also makes it easier to gather updates and, overall, supports better workflow management.

Flexible Task and Project Management, Needs Better Review Process and Time Blocking Abilities

    Reviewed on Jul 16, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how Asana keeps track of all my tasks and lets me organize them in different ways. I like how I can put the same task in multiple places. It's easy to use, and I like the different view options. Sometimes I need to see my tasks as a list, other times it's more helpful as a board, and sometimes I need to see the full calendar view. Those views are all helpful. It helps my productivity to break a project up into manageable chunks to understand how everything fits together and who is involved. I also like the automation rules you can set up to make repeated tasks easier. The automation rules are valuable because they help auto-sort tasks after some action is taken, which helps with organization and workload management.
What do you dislike about the product?
What could be improved: internal due dates vs external due dates. I wish I could set a due date for a task and then set a different date range to remind myself when to work on something. I have tasks due a month from now but I don't see them until they show up as coming up next, and then it's too late for me to start working on them. I would love to be able to plan my time better without touching the actual external due date of a task. Another thing that could be improved is the review process and ways to get feedback on design/content creation. This is something my team struggles with constantly. The built-in Asana approve function is not user-friendly for my team. We struggle with creating bottlenecks where one person has to approve everything and this causes a delay. We don't create a new task for someone to review a graphic when it's done - we just change the name of the original task and then re-assign it to the reviewer. This feels extremely inefficient to me and we end up losing track of due dates and the original title/assignee/function of the task. Our Asana was set up before my time at this company and it is way too overcomplicated which makes it hard to navigate around. Overall, time blocking my day, communicating with my team, sending tasks for review or approval, and showing the actual progress of a task are too hard to do right now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps enhance my productivity by allowing me to break projects up into manageable chunks and plan out my time better. Asana helps my team have more visibility into my workload and what I'm doing.
