You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you launch. The software cost is the same across all instances; your price changes with the compute type you pick. Options span general-purpose families (m, t) and compute-optimized families (c), plus one memory-optimized choice (r7a.medium). Within each family, sizes like nano, micro, small, medium, large, and xlarge scale processing power and memory. Larger sizes cost more per hour. Choose a smaller instance for light use, or a larger one for more concurrent editing. AWS also bills separately for the underlying infrastructure you consume.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged for the software when my EC2 instance is stopped?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops accruing software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, such as EBS volumes, while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
What does one billing hour cover, and what runs on the instance?
One hour covers the running software appliance on the EC2 instance size you selected. It includes the real-time collaborative editor, a pre-configured database, the web server with SSL, and the mail transfer agent. Larger instance sizes give more processing power and memory for more concurrent editing.
Does the hourly price include vendor support, or is that billed separately?
Support comes bundled with your subscription at no extra hourly charge. You register a Hub account to access chat and email support, plus 1-click cloud backup and restore. You get one free level 1 support incident per month. Additional paid support and custom development are available separately.
