Overview
This is a repackaged open-source software product wherein additional charges apply for support and for providing it in a simple consumable AMI.Roundcube is a browser-based multilingual IMAP client with an application-like user interface. It provides full functionality you expect from an email client, including MIME support, address book, folder manipulation, message searching and spell checking. We have installed and configured all the components that makes up this solution. All that you need is your domain and you can build your Email framework with this offering. Why pay per inbox to other vendors when you can build your own for less. We have hardened the image and have made it production-ready.

You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen EC2 instance type. Price scales with the instance size you pick, not with inboxes or users. The listing offers about 60 instance options across several families. General-purpose families (t2, t3, t3a, m3, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, m5n, m5zn, m6i, m7a) and a compute family (c7i) let you match memory and CPU to your workload. Sizes range from nano through 8xlarge. Larger sizes cost more per hour. You add AWS infrastructure charges separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The software price is tied to that instance, not to the number of email inboxes or accounts you create. You can add mailboxes without raising the hourly software rate.
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. AWS may still bill underlying storage for the stopped instance. The meter tracks running time, so stopping the instance during idle periods reduces software cost.
You pay AWS infrastructure charges separately from the software fee, including compute, storage, and data transfer. To receive external email you also need a domain registered with any registrar, which carries its own annual cost. The software fee covers the pre-configured Roundcube stack itself.
