Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type across the t2, t3, m3, and m4 families. Larger instances offer more compute and memory, so their hourly rate is higher. You pick the size that fits your workload and pay only while the instance runs. There is no upfront commitment, and you can change instance types as needs shift. This hourly software charge bundles the packaged Neo4j application along with security and support provided by Hossted.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does each hourly instance dimension actually map to in compute terms?
Each dimension is a named EC2 instance type, such as m4.xlarge or t3.large. The type sets the vCPU count and memory you receive. You pay the hourly rate tied to that specific type while the instance runs. The t2 and t3 types are burstable; the m3 and m4 types provide fixed general-purpose compute.
Am I charged for the software while an instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing this charge. You are billed again once you restart it. Note that underlying AWS storage tied to a stopped instance may still incur separate AWS fees outside this software listing.
What is included in the hourly charge beyond the EC2 compute itself?
The hourly rate bundles the packaged Neo4j application plus security and support from Hossted. Connecting the instance to the Hossted Platform adds real-time monitoring, automated updates, and analytics. You pick one instance type per running instance, and the charge covers the full packaged software for that instance.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
