AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you choose to run OpenVPN Community Edition. The 22 options map to different instance types across the t2, t3, t3a, m3, and m4 families. These families vary in compute, memory, and processing capacity. Smaller sizes like t2.medium and t3.medium suit lighter workloads, while larger sizes like m4.16xlarge and t3.2xlarge provide more resources. Your rate scales with the instance you select. Billing is usage-based, so you are charged for the hours the instance runs. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What resources do I get when I choose an instance size like t3.medium or m4.16xlarge?
Each option maps to a specific EC2 instance type. That type sets the compute, memory, and processing capacity of the server running OpenVPN Community Edition. Sizes such as t2.medium provide fewer resources; sizes such as m4.16xlarge provide more. You pick the size to match your expected traffic.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges apply per running hour of the instance you select. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Underlying AWS resources, such as attached storage, may still incur separate AWS fees while the instance is stopped. The software meters running time only.
What is included beyond running the software on my chosen instance?
The vendor provides support for open-source applications, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Support covers resolving production issues and guidance on best practices for stability and scaling. This support applies across the instance sizes you run.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
