Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run this Jitsi Meet video conferencing server on. Pricing scales with the compute size you pick, not with a fixed plan. The t3 and t3a instances are general-purpose sizes, ranging from small through 2xlarge. The c5 and c5a instances are compute-focused sizes, from large through 2xlarge. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates and provide more processing capacity. You choose the size that matches your expected conferencing load, then run it and stop it as needed under hourly billing.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I run one of these instance types?
You get a preconfigured Jitsi Meet video conferencing server that supports up to 500 concurrent users. The instance type you pick sets the compute resources (CPU and memory) behind that server. The t3 and t3a sizes are general-purpose; the c5 and c5a sizes are compute-focused for heavier processing loads.
Am I charged when I stop or pause the instance?
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. If you stop it, the hourly software charge stops too. You can start and stop it as your conferencing demand changes. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees, but the software meters running time only.
How do I decide which instance size fits my expected conferencing load?
Pick the size that matches how many concurrent participants you expect. General-purpose t3 and t3a sizes suit lighter or variable use. Compute-focused c5 and c5a sizes handle heavier processing. Larger sizes provide more capacity at higher hourly rates. You can switch sizes as your load changes.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
