Overview MinIO is a high performance open source object storage server that speaks the Amazon S3 API. This image delivers MinIO fully installed and configured, so a complete S3-compatible object store is running within minutes of launch. The MinIO Console web interface is exposed through a clean nginx reverse proxy on port 80, and the S3 API is available on port 9000.
Object Storage Stack MinIO running as a systemd service in single-node, single-drive mode. The S3-compatible REST API is on port 9000 and the MinIO Console admin interface is on port 9001, fronted by nginx on port 80. The bundled mc client provides a familiar command-line driver for buckets and objects.
Secure First Boot On the first boot of your instance a one shot service generates a fresh MinIO root username and root password, unique to that instance, writes them into the MinIO environment file, and stores the plain text values in a root only file. No shared or default credentials ship in the image. The well-known minioadmin/minioadmin default is never present.
Ready To Use The MinIO service, nginx reverse proxy, configuration, data directory and root account are all prepared. Browse to the instance address on port 80 to reach the MinIO Console, or point any S3 client (the AWS CLI, boto3, s3cmd, rclone) at the instance on port 9000 with the generated credentials. Buckets and objects are kept on a dedicated, independently resizable EBS data volume.

Usage instructions
Connect via SSH on port 22 as the default login user for your operating system variant (the user guide lists it per variant). The MinIO Console web interface is available at http://<instance-public-ip>/ (nginx reverse proxy on port 80). The S3-compatible API is on port 9000. Retrieve the generated root credentials with: sudo cat /root/minio-credentials.txt. Sign in to the Console as the MinIO root user and the generated root password. From the command line, configure the bundled mc client: mc alias set local http://<instance-public-ip>:9000 <root-user> <root-pass>; mc mb local/my-bucket. Restrict ports 80, 9000 and 9001 to trusted networks. To enable HTTPS, follow the reverse proxy section of the user guide.
