What compute specs come with the t3.medium and t3.large instances?
Each option maps to an AWS EC2 instance type. The t3.medium provides fewer vCPUs and less memory for lighter workloads. The t3.large provides more vCPUs and memory for larger user counts or heavier collaboration activity. You pick the size based on expected load, and billing follows the instance you select.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. Stopped or powered-off instances do not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for storage attached to a stopped instance, but the per-hour software meter counts running time only.
Is this billed per user or per instance?
Billing is per instance-hour, not per user. You pay for the running compute regardless of how many people use the collaboration service. There is no per-seat fee tied to either instance size. Cost depends only on the instance you select and how long it runs.

Usage instructions
Launch with ports 80, 443, and 22 open. Wait 2-3 minutes for first boot to finish. Browse to https://<public-ip>/ and accept the self-signed certificate, then log in as 'admin'. Retrieve the auto-generated password with: sudo cat /opt/appliance/credentials.txt. For trusted public TLS (Let's Encrypt), point a domain at the instance and launch with EC2 user-data line: APPLIANCE_DOMAIN=yourdomain.com. PostgreSQL and Redis run as local containers; attach additional EBS volumes for file storage as needed.
